Continental DWS Good Price!

Hey guys, I'm getting some Cont. DWS put on the whip right now in 235/45/17. Good tires right?? Some of the best all-seasons I hope! I got Hibdon Tires to price match/beat Discount Tire and give them to me for $125/tire. Seems like everyone that has these loves them and it seems like thay price is killer

Just a heads up if your in the market for new tires. Initial review coming shortly. I'm coming from noisy Yokahama Avid w4s that lasted like 20,000 miles. Figured I'd step up my game

I just had Conti DWS 234/45/17 installed two weeks back. They are riding pretty nice so far, no vibrations and more quiet than previous tires (bridgestones). $125/tire is a great price! Hope you like em!

The DWS is a great tire! I plan on using those next winter.. mainly because they're cheaper than the Blizzak now.

Initial impressions...and by initial I mean driving on them for a whopping 21 miles lol. These tires are SMOOTH and super quiet. Braking has vastly improved, but I figured it would. The ride is a ton smoother and most bumps can hardly even be felt. No road noise at all. Money well spent!! I highly suggest these so far

yeah TireRack has them for a bit cheaper per tire, but after shipping...it's actually more expensive. Watch out for that

the acura dealership near me had a sale this week... 40% off any tire...

They quoted me $695 out the door for the tires installed, balanced, and aligned

but mine were ExtremeContact DW

@OP: Does that $125/tire include mounting, balancing (Roadforce?), disposal & tax?

For the Continental DWS, Anything close to 125 for a tire is a pretty good deal, and then factor in about 20 dollars extra per tire for mounting, balancing and tax and such.

For the Continental DW, Anything close to 135 for a tire is a pretty good deal, and then another 20 dollars for the other stuff.

If you can get a tire shop in this range, the best thing to do is to negotiate the out the door price. Suppose your getting the DW tires for about 155 a tire including mounting and disposal fees, plus tax and the rest and it comes out to say 635 dollars. Tell the person money is a bit tight and you were looking for something closer to 600. Tire shops will work with you and go to 600 or go to 610 OTD and make the numbers work, I've noticed this esp with Discount tire.

They handle much better than what I had on there. Likely due to the increase in tread compared to about 10% tread life I had on my other tires, but still..they're great so far.

Yup. I got Hibdons to price-match Discount Tire and then add an 1yr Alignment. After taxes, etc all totaled up it was $678. Not too shabby for something that will last and that's quality.

So far these tires are exceptional. Extremely quiet and ride a TON smoother than the Yoko's I had on there before. Cornering is improved, but my old '01 Cobra with full Maximum Motorsports suspension cornered a little better lol. For a factory luxury sport sedan..not too bad. Bumps are smoother and I don't feel little things in the road nearly at all, which is great for these roads around here. All in all I'd definitely recommend these for the price.

The Blizzak tires are EXTREME WINTER tires, the DWS WILL NOT come close to the Blizzak in deep snow, not even close. I have had Blizzaks, extreme summer, max summer, and many all-season tires. Summer tires are THE BEST in warm weather. In the winter/snow/ice the BLIZZAK is the BEST IMO. And tested opinion

I am considering ContiExtreme DW for my next Summer tire. With FWD an all-season is good ENOUGH in the snow, but NOT THE BEST.

ALL-SEASON tires are like an Enduro motorcycle, it goes on the street, and in the dirt, BUT doesnt do anything great.

Summer use Summer tires.

Winter use Winter tires if you WANT tthe best performance.

I will soon be in the market for new tires. I currently have Yokohama Avid V4s tires. They were very noisy when new but they are alot guieter as they wore down. They were recently measured at 4-5/32 for all 4 tires. Have 59,000 miles on them. From the review I have read the DWS tires will not last that long. Still researching.

Usually the better a tire grips the road, the sooner they wear out. An all-season that lasts 60k miles usually doesn't handle corners as well.

If you want longevity of a tire, do not expect great handling. Its what you want. Most people ask me how long my 2010 Camaro P-Zero tires lasted that cost $450 each, when I tell them the rears lasted 10k miles without doing many burnouts they don't understand. At Tirerack they review all the tires in each catagory, thats where you can compare quality of handling and longevity of a certain tire.

Good Luck finding an all-season that last quite awhile and still offers quality handling.
I prefer Extreme Summer tires for the warm months, and an all-season for the winter, because this is a front wheel drive car, and pure winter tires really aren't needed as a rear wheel drive car does. I had Blizzak tires on my 2010 Camaro SS/RS with 150# of salt in the trunk in a rubbermaid container, with a 6-speed manual, traction-control, and weight over the rear tires, it got around winter AWESOME !!! Especially when I started off in second gear. Acura TL= All-season for bad months, and Max summer tires from March-Nov. Just my opinions.

God Bless All

I just put on my 2nd set of Cont. DWS today. The 1st set lasted 90,000 miles. I could have pushed it to 95,000, but with winter here, I went ahead and replaced them. IMO these are the best all around tire for those areas that see all types of weather.

impressive. We replaced our OEM Michelin tires when they all measured 4/32 and 74,000 miles. If we were not going on a cross country trip we would have waited to buy new ones. Lucky we did change them-drove in a huge snow storm in Montana. We get our tires balanced each time we get them rotated.

WOW. I have never gotten more then 40,000 miles out of any tire. And I have owned about 20 cars and trucks-mostly new.

I never worry about how many miles I get out of a tire. I buy tires for what I want out of it. I LOVE Blizzaks in the snow.

I LOVE MAX SUMMER tires in the warm weather.

I pick a tire by its quality of what I want it to do. NOT by how long it will last.

Just me 2 cents boys and girls.

we want both=tires that hold traction with the many different roads we travel but also want them to last. we have also owned numerous new cars over the years and average 30,000+miles a year driving.

Mine were $155 a piece. But that included mounting, balancing, installation, and a lifetime road hazard warranty with free rotations.
