Coilovers in the $200-$300 range
 

Hey guys, looking to drop my 08 Type-s an inch and a half in the front and rear.. I've been suggested coilovers and I've been suggested tien s tech lowering springs.. What is my best option? Anyone have suggestions for coilovers in the $200-$300 range?

There isn't any in that range lol, alone coilovers start around $700 a set. if u only dropping it a inch n a half and your on a tight budget just get springs alone

Coilover in $200~300 range? Just keep an eye on BM.
Otherwise just get springs. Some people regret after they get springs instead of coils including myself. I'd save some money and get coilovers.

I had a set of TEIN S-Tech springs and while I never had a problem with them, I eventually got a set of coils. Save your pennies and make it happen.

If you keep an eye on the black market, you will eventually find a decent set of coilovers for $500-$600, possibly less. They are the better option.

You get what you pay for. If you don't have enough money to buy coilovers, then either save up or buy springs.

^^^well said. In the $200-$300 price range....you're probably looking at F&F Type 1s with 100K miles on 'em.

You'll probably be happier with springs than with the quality of coilovers you could get for $200-300. You're looking about that per corner for anything worth the effort.

Sounds like Tein S Tech is what you need. Rides close to factory with the drop you desire.

Most people that buy springs end up swapping them out for coilovers in the long run which means the time and money spent buying and installing the springs was a waste. My advice to everybody is to stay stock height until you can get your hands on a nice set of coils, do it right the first time. I will never again buy lowering springs for any car i own.

Also most people say they only want a 1.5'' drop, but once they see what that looks like they want to go lower. Save up and do it right the first time. I had springs and later upgraded to coils.

I went the spring/Koni shock route and a coilover setup has nothing on me. Most people recommend coilovers based on height adjustability which is fine but the rest automatically say coilover when asked not knowing why, only that coilovers are "better". Lots of suggestions, very little explanation for that reasoning.

raceland are cheap dont know if they have em for 3g tl though

Racelands are $400 for my car. Don't think they make them for the TL, but if they did it'd definitely be more expensive.

go with h&r race springs they are 250 new, but you will probably need new stuts in a couple months with thos

on my civic i had a ground control coil over sleeves with koni yellow shocks and it was the best setup I've ever owned. Unfortunately i don't think ground control makes a coil over for the 3G TL.

That would be nice. I've seen the generic ones on eBay but I wouldn't use them. I knocked off the mounting tab so I could fit the shock a little farther into the sleeve and keep it on the high perch. That way I could lower the car but retain full suspension travel besides what the aspec springs took away.
