Cheap tires

Anyone have an idea as to whether cheap tires will adversely effect the ride of my TL. My friend messed up two of my tires and did me a "favor" and replaced all 4 with some off brand junk.

well i would first make sure that they have the correct speed rating of atleast H what brand are they? and the most that would happen is that they would handle worse than the factory tires

a lot of people dont understand just how important tires are... cheap tires not only effect the noise level, ride quality and handling ability, but massivly affect braking distance and weather abilities. If you put cheap-ass tires on your car, your ABS will kick in a lot easier and dont bother driving in the rain, or your in for a suprise.

The speed rating is listed on the side of the tire somewhere. There's a bunch of info on there if you can interpret it. Stuff like "Treadwear-A Teperature-B". The closer the letters are to "A" the better. The speed rating is probably in the size of the tire, i.e.- 215/50V-17. That V letter (if you don't have it memorized) denotes that this tire can handle speeds up to 149mph at full load and proper air pressure. Other such ratings are S (118mph?), H- (130mph) and so on. The best place to read up opn all this stuff be online at any major tire manufacturers site or some massive tire site like www.tirerack.com . They'll tell you what to look for.

I' with Darkshear, even a cheap car dosen't deserve cheap tyres. Buying cheap tires for a nice car is like having a real nice sound system and buying cheap speakers. Tyres are the thing that makes the car the best it can be. A Lambo or Ferrari on Pepboy tyres would handle like a POS. So save up and get quality units that complement your car.
