center ring??

hi all

I just got my katana concept 5 rims...(yeah yeah i know its C5 knock off, im not as rich as some of you)

but someone told me i need "center rings??" a plastic piece betwee the rims and the rotors to make sure the rims are mounted on my TL perfectly so they wont wobble or anything like that, they said securing rims with only lugnuts wont do the job for after market rims. is that true? if yes, where can i get them??

thanks

slick

Yes, it is ture. But you won't feel the different until you are driving around 75mph because your steering will start shaking even all of your wheels are balance. You should contact the dealer where you brought the rims from or you can contact "Discounttiredirect" for the center ring as I remember it should cost you less than $10. But I will try the place where you brought the rims because they suppose to come with the rims.

you can buy hubrings at most good rim shops. hubrings do help to center the wheel against the hub so it spins round...hence, the name hubcentricity. however you can get lug-centricity...using lugnuts to center the wheel. another thing about hubrings is that some say it prevents less vibrations...more surface area...???

thanks for replying guys...

i had called the shop for the hub centric rings. The guy said it is not necessary for our TL's. I mounted them on today with out any shakes that i can detect.

what do you guys think?
if i absolutely need them...where can i get them? i've been to pepboys, autozones, NTB, etc... without any sucess.

If your wheels are hub-centric specific, the rings would be provided by the wheel manufacturer. Most wheels are designed to be lug-centric to accommodate a wide variety of vehicles.

All Honda/Acura cars use hub_centric wheels. The wheel nuts are used solely to hold the wheel onto the rotor face, not for positioning.
