Can the A-spec chrome rims be powdercoated?

I recently acquired a set of chrome aspec rims, I wanna get them powdercoated. I have heard from someone that it's not good to powdercoat over chrome. Has anyone powdercoated the chrome aspec rims before? If so, any advice? Also, is there a color code for the gunmetal aspec rims colors? I wanna powdercoat them to that color.

That chrome finish is just paint. It needs to be sandblasted off and then you can have them powdercoated.

Go to powderbuythepound.com to find a color that you like. Powder codes and paint codes are totally different.

The powdecoating guy just got back to me. He's sandblasting them right now and said the chrome isn't coming off nicely... He'll try his best but no guarantees. Maybe I got a set of chrome ones that was actually prepped properly from factory? They weren't peeling whatsoever.

What part of NOT CHROMED FROM FACTORY do you not understand?

Chroming wheels is a very long and expensive process. Acura wouldn't take the time and money to do each and every set they produced. Plus why would they chrome those wheels and only paint the other finished offered?

Come on son

Im not saying its chrome material... But after they sandblasted it, there was a part that was powdercoated in from factory, I think it's like a primer cuz its gray, they showed it to me. But the chrome part did come off easily, my friend misinterpreted them over the phone. It should turn out good but just can't be sandblasted to the bare metal. Will post pics tomorrow.

Believe me I want them done right and I wish they were easy to strip off. It's just there is a powdercoated layer underneath before it reaches the bare metal
