Can I use these McGard lugs on stock wheels?
I know the OEM lugs have a ball seat and these are conical, but would they be safe to use? My stock lugs are rusting and chipping and these are only a few bucks more than the OEM replacements, plus I think the black chrome would look good with the silver wheels. Thanks....

So basically if 12 people who know what they are talking about say don't do it and one idiot says he did it your going to do it? If thats the case .. just do it .. don't ask for advise your not going to heed.

They might work, but the VW uses both a 12 and 14 mm bolt/stud, so I don't know how much of adapter would be pressed against the ball seat in the wheel. For $2.99 you might want to experiment, but unless it's a perfect fit on both sides, I wouldn't take a chance, especially when they are holding the wheel onto the hub, or between the lug nut and the wheel.

I think I'll call them up and see if they can tell me what the id on the washer is. If it's 12mm maybe I'll try running one lug/washer per wheel for a week or so to test them. My only other concern would be that the bulge on the lug would be too thick, but I think there's enough room. The only aftermarket lugs I can find with a ball seat are Gorillas. I don't know if they're any good. Thanks for the input.

Pretty well all the VW from 99 on uses a 14 mm bolt so your conical seat may sit way too deep in the adapter.
BTW Gorilla is a quality brand.
