I'm looking at getting some new tires (and new rims since the stock ones are really thin) and I want to go as wide as possible without having clearance issues. Also I don't want the tire to stick outside the wheel well. I'm looking at 17 inch rims so any suggestions would be helpful (offset and max tire width). Thanks

235's on an 8" wheel will work fine. Be careful of the offset. High +40's to +55.

17 x 7.5 +49 offset with 235/45-17's will work just fine without any rubbing.

Thanks, I'll look for some 17x7.5 rims to get the 235/45/17s. I want as much traction as possible with out it rubbing or looking silly.
