Caliper Paint Job

Does anyone know of any good shop (performance preferably) that does a good paint job for the calibers on the TL in the Maryland (Towson) region?

if you're going to send it to a shop, look for powder coaters.
which isnt going to be a performance shop.
however, if you are going to get it powder coated, you will need to buy a rebuild kit to rebuild all the seals. as powder coating reaches temps above 500 degrees.

if you just want to paint them, DIY.
take the caliper off like you would doing brakes, hang them with coat hangers, prep them, then paint them

I was going to say... most people just paint the calipers themselves. The more time you spend on doing proper preparation, the better and longer lasting the results you'll have.

Getting the calipers powder coated is technically the better (longer lasting) way to go, but, it is more expensive, and more work (you have to remove the calipers- a powder coating shop won't touch your car, bleed the system again, rebuild the calipers, etc.) It's not hard. It's just extra effort on your part.

Personally, I would just paint them myself. It's way cheaper and easier, and you can change the colors as often as you like. There are threads here on AZ that will walk you through it. I highly suggest you try it out!

PC ovens burn at like 350-400F. Which, as a 20min constant...is probably on the cusp of being a bit much for the seal.

PC'ing *can* also be detrimental to heat aged aluminum like wheels, calipers, etc.

I'd just paint them. Prep and clean like a MF. then paint.

Paint them yourself, it can look great and professional depending on your prep and time you put in. Plus you will feel great afterward by making the car look better and doing it yourself! I did mine well over a year ago and this is the second winter they have been through and they are holding up great and still look like the day I painted them.

I've got a can of black caliper paint that lasts years. I don't go too crazy and slather it on in 2 layers to prevent rust. The last time i did a big prep job with layers it ended up rusting anyway from wear and tear.
