Bubble on the sidewall... a few questions

I went down to pick up my aunt from the airport and on the way home I hit the mother of all potholes (well, at least it felt like it). I didn't notice any vibrations as I drove. Long story short, I washed my car a few days later and saw the bubble on the sidewall. I'm at work right now so I cant upload any pictures, but the bubble is about 3 - 4 inches in diameter. I am not losing tire pressure or anything.

I know that riding on tires without bubbles are safer, but my question is, I plan on getting a new tire (probably two) but until then can I safely drive on the tire?

Should I put the spare on?

The Yokohama Advans that I have on now are super loud... can I mix tire brands?

Would a new tire be covered under warranty from the dealership?

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Any outward bubble is dangerous and the tire needs to be replaced. The tire could let go anytime and you don't want to be going 80mph when it happens. Its best to replace tires in sets but you can get away with just replacing the one damaged tire if you don't have the funds available since the car isn't AWD. Usually damage like that will only be covered if you bought road hazard protection on the tires. Then they will pro-rate the cost of the new one.

Put the spare on till you can get to a tire shop.

yea your playing with your safety on this man. The bubble didnt appear right away because the tire was slowly showing what really happened. Put the spare on right away and get it replaced.

i have the same problem with the front right tire. all the other tires have a lot of tread left in them since the previous owner changed them before he sold it to me. suggestions of getting a used tire or new tire? or two new tires and rotate wheels? i have been riding with this bubble for about a good 2-3 weeks still, dont want to risk anymore

well any of those options are good if its getting you off that tire. A tire with a bubble in the sidewall is a ticking timebomb. Its a serious weak spot in the tire.

Get rid of the tire and also check for a bent wheel.

Well, I just went and spent 732 fucking bucks on new tires because there is no way that I am going to drive around on mismatched tires... Fuck!!! I guess its a good thing that I gave the government a tax free loan and I have a nice tax return coming to me. I suppose it could be worse.

Thanks for all the sound advice AZINE
