Bridgestone or Pirelli??

I need to replace my stock Michelins in a couple weeks and figured I'd start asking now for some feedback/reviews. A couple weeks ago, I posted a thread asking about other tires, but decided against them.
I am deciding between the
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (235/45/R17)or
Pirelli PZero Nero M+S (235/45R17)
What are any pros/cons between these two?
How are they compared to the OEM Michelins?
How do they handle in dry/wet/snow?
How secure do they feel?
How good/bad is the treadwear?
How is the noise level?

Any feedback on these two tires would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I may get flamed for this but I personnally prefer the Bridgestone RE960AS. I put Pirelli PZero Nero's on my car at 33,000 miles after I wore out the factory Turanzas. I put 22,000 miles on the Pirelli's and actually they still have about half the tread left (I'm not an "agressive" driver - LOL) and I had to take them off my TL. About 5,000 to 8,000 miles ago the Pirelli's started getting REALLY LOUD. The road noise, to me, was just unbearable. I had nothing but praise for the Pirelli's in the beginning but at about 12,000 miles on them and they began to sound like 4x4 knobby tires (if you know what I mean). They were just L-O-U-D!!!

I had the Bridgestones RE960AS put on last week and it's like a new car again. I cannot hear ANY road noise from the tires at all. They actually feel like they can handle curves MUCH better than the Pirelli's did when I first got them. The ride is ALOT smoother, bumps are not as harsh and I have not yet noticed any gas mileage drop as others have claimed when moving to the Bridgestones. I only have about 300 miles on the Bridgestones right now so I'm still breaking them in but so far there's nothing but LOVE!

I agree with fiend. Love my poles. These were my 2 choices as well. I went with the poles because I've heard that the Pirelli's dont last very long and get noisy. Plus the poles got rated highest on tirerack. Regarding gas mileage drop: I havent noticed anything, and if there is, perhaps they didnt inflate the tires enough, or it could simply be going from a tire with no traction/grip (less resistance, rolls easier) to one with traction/grip (more resistance).

Actually, I think the Yokohama ADVAN S4s were rated highest in the Ultra High Performance All Season category on tirerack although the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Positions were a close second. I'm deciding between these two tires at the moment. Slightly higher ratings for the Yokohamas but they're about $24 more per tire on tirerack.

If you want max perf summer tires the Bridgestone Pole position RE 05A had the highest rating at Tirerack. I always go to tirerack to read the reviews on tires. Its a great site for reviews, specs, etc on tires !!! I would go with the Bridgestone IMO. J.D.

Thanks guys...your feedback is helping me decide. I'm glad I'm getting repsonses to help me decide.
After hearing that the Pirelli's got loud after 12,00 miles...I'm hesistant to get them.
Regarding the Bridgestones, you did mention that the car felt smoother and bumps weren't as harsh. but does the car stll feel secure/tight and not 'loose'?
Being that you had both Pirelli and Bridgestones, did they both have a rim guard sidewall similar to the OEM Michelins?
I have heard about people claiming their gas mileage dropped after installing Bridgestones...does this have to do with that tire being a bit heavier? Has anyone noticed the slight weight difference when accelerating or just driving along?
Thanks again..keep the feedback coming!

I would like to know how much the 07 TL-S Fast & Furious 17x8" wheels weigh. I will go to Tirerack and see how much the stock Michelins weigh. I want a set of 18-19" wheels with aprox 235-245/35-40/18 or 19" tires and keep the total weight no more than stock. I read JJaber WHO is having a hard time getting his car to go as fast as a YUGO with his PRIMO wheels.

Turns and coverleafs be damn!! What fun!!

I went with 18's for the ride, 19's would look at little nicer. Plus I like the Aspec's. Congrats on the TL-S. I just wish I'd waited one year, Acura really should have put it out in 06. But I'm happy on what I've done with it.

I bought an 06 Accord EX V6 NAV ASM in May 06. My friends teased me about the TL's and how great they look. One day I got and went to the Acura dealer the same day in Aug 06 and bought a 06 ASM TL Nav. One month later I read about a new 07 TL-S coming out In Dec 06 I tradded in the 06 TL for my new baby I had to have the 07 ASM TL-S I lost my ASS on trades this year But I could of spent it on a DUI which I will never get due to NEVER drinking again VERY HARD, but worth it

I got a 05 TL in Aug 05, a black one, after a few problems with it, the dealer sratching the crap out of it with a rock in the towel they used to dry it off. Then putting my front bumper into another car, I had them buy the car back (trade-in) and got my 06 in Feb 06.

So I'm done for awhile, if I had the 05 still, I might pull the trigger on a TL-S. Need to keep some money in the bank.

I was thinking on getting the A-Spec 18" wheels in the sparkle silver, there is a used clean set for $930. I wonder how they would look on my 07 ASM TL-S with A-Spec body kit? Better then the stock TL-S grey wheels I guess, but how much better? Should I get VOLK GT-S or VOLK GT-C in 19's ? Or 18" A-Spec wheels?

OH BOY, it does look sweet If I never saw all the cars with 19's and wheel style I like, I would get those in a heartbeat But I love a polished SS lip. I really like wheels with stainless steel LIP and a silver center. 100% CHROME IS IMO.

Is your car lowered?

True, but the Advans don't have a treadwear warranty. The RE960AS have a 40k mile warranty.

My Michelin Pilot Sport All/Season tires are going bald after 20,000 miles. Even if the RE960AS only last 20,000 miles, I'll get half my money back.

Thanks again guys...after hearing some of your reviews, I'm leaning towards the Bridgestones RE960AS. Anyone else with these tires? The more feedback I get, the better!
Those of you with the Pirelli's, how many of you hav enoticed the 'loudness' which I have heard about from?

Thanks

PZero

I have the Pirelli's and I have 43K miles on them. I have not had ANY issues with the tires and their is no noticable noise. That being said, my Nero's are at the tread bars and I am trying to decide on tires.

I have been completly satisfied with the Pirelli's, but I am itching to try something else.

Michelins Pilot A/S are only about $10 more per tire, but I don't know about the treadwear.

You guys with the Bridgestones...do they have good stiff sidewall? Do they feel secure on the road at higher speeds and when making turns? I hate that 'mushy/spongy' feel that some tires have and like a tire with a strong/rigid sidewall with little flex.

Thanks
