Brembo rotor question

I am putting on Acura replacement pads & want to get the rotors resurfaced.

Has anyone had the factory Brembo rotors machined? If so how did it turn out (no pun intended) & where did you have it done

I'm interested in this too.

I've heard it both ways from longtime Acura/Honda mechanics.

Most likely I'm going to re-surface them and see what happens. Don't really have anything to lose other than purchasing another set and if thats the case aftermarket all the way because I smoked these things in 17,000 miles.

Only thing I've heard (... errr, read) is to have them done with the on car brake lathe. That way the rotor is turned to be "true" to the car.

I am pretty sure there was an Acura Service News article on this. Other than a dealership, not sure where this can be done.

I am pretty sure I've also read that after turning, the Brembo's tend to "warp" or "re-warp" faster (there is always a lot discussion whether they are actually warped or just unevenly glazed with pad material).

Just had my pads and and rotors changed out for new ones at my dealer. I took the car in to have the Brembo pads replaced and the dealer said I also needed to change out my rotors. To my surprise he did a one time free complementry replacement at no cost. I was blown away. It would have cost me around $700 if I had to pay out of my own pocket. But the dealer got Acura to cover it for me. The only issue I have now is that they squeek a bit when I press lightly on the peddle. Must be somthing to do with the new surface on the rotors. What do you think????

I had my rotors turned at an acura dealer. They warped within 5k miles. Im going to get some heavy duty rotors for my brembo setup. The OEMs are just plain garbage.

Right now i have not issues other then the pads getting thin. The replacement pads will be here on Monday.

Will open it up then decide what to do with the rotors after I measure them.

I think there is a TSB about the stock rotors for the Type-S having a squeaking/sqeualing issue. that's may be why they replaced them. To bad you seem to have that issue now with the replaced rotors, I'm sure it will proably stop once the rotors get worn in.

That's the way all Honda and Acura dealers resurface brake rotors and is the only reason I have my brakes done at the dealer. Resurfacing them in this manner yields fewer problems later on and limits the possibility of the rotors warping out with time.

Overtightened lug nuts are also amongst the chief causes of warped rotors on Hondas and Acuras. Making sure they're torqued to 80ft-lbs also helps prevent them from warping.
