Bought Tanabe NF210 Springs, Should I install on stock struts

My car has 80k. But the shocks are good. No leaks or damage and still ride great.

The Tanabe springs drop only 1"

Should I run them on the stock spring/shocks.?

do it yourself install and you have nothing to loose.

CLtotheTL32 04-09-2014 11:25 AM

Sure!

mvp2765 04-09-2014 11:51 AM

Go for it. Probably will need to get new struts sooner down the road tho

Capsu!e 04-09-2014 04:12 PM

Yah, I usually do all the work myself. Gonna throw them on and see whats up.

Do I need to pull the rear deck to change the rears? Or just the rear seats?

That would suck once I get adj. shocks, to change dampening I gotta pull seats and rear deck.

The rear shelf doesn't HAVE to come out, but it makes everything easier. It should just pop out with a few clips.

There is an excellent DIY write up in the 3G Garage...it's for a coilover install but he labels everything you need to get the seats and deck out. The OP is member "DeathMetal".

Mind letting me know how you like the springs? I would like to replace the shocks on mine and I was thinking of a set of drop springs but I can't find anyone who has used the Tanabe's.

Capsu!e 04-11-2014 12:50 PM

Yah no problem, There are two types of springs by Tanabe, NF and DF, I got the nf210'S. They are discontinued but some online shops still have them. The DF drop it more and have stiffer rates.

I wanted a mild drop and a little stiffer so I went witht he NF.

I rode on Tanabe springs for 2 years on stock shocks in my Z and I loved it. Eventually had the itch to go slammed & bought coilovers. lol

Did you install those springs?

I have the same springs installed last Saturday, here are the pictures:

Attachment 82862

The front is higher than the rear.

CLtotheTL32 06-18-2014 05:59 PM

I hate when the rear is lower than the front :ugh:

The NF210 springs can be installed on stock shocks but with 80k on your shocks I'd highly recommend replacing them.

Installed, Here are pics with two different rims.

Rides great on stock shocks. I have made sure shocks were still good and after a few thousand miles no leaks or change in ride.

BUT, do not like the height in the front. Soooo, Coilovers are ordered. :)

And another set of rims coming and a front lip, Getting ready for HIN this year in Phoenix.

My TL is slightly higher in the front than the rear also. But not by a lot. From ground to center top wheel well, I am at 25 1/8 inches in the front and 24 3/4 inches in the rear. I have pictures posted in another post called. " tein basis ride". I don't like the nose being as low as the rear because the front glass and hood already have a slope and when the nose is equal height as the rear it looks like a big wedge. Plus the nose on these cars are small and the rear Is big. And it makes the car look more balanced with the rear slightly lower. Also I have seen many base tl's that are not modified and the rear of these cars tend to be slightly lower from the factory. And I think these cars handle better without the nose being buried down. I did have an.issue with a harsh ride on the front and raised it to the current height, but I have always preferred th e rear to be slightly lower than the front because of the reasons I just mentioned. Btw, with 17 inch tires you normally have to go lower to look as low as a car with 19's.
