Bought A-Spec wheels - Any tire advice?
Well I took the plunge and bought a set of new in the box 18" sparkle silver A-Spec wheels complete with TPMS and Stems. $1,250.00 shipped. I think I got a pretty good deal. I'm going to go with 245/40 18 Yokohama AVS ES100's for the tires.
Any opinions on my tire selection? They seem to be rated pretty well and it's not too late to change my mind on the tires.
I'll have the stock wheels and tires available to sell (I'll make a post in a black market ) by next week or so. For those that may be interested... they're from a 2006 TL 6mt and have less than 1000 miles on the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires. I'm basically going to unbolt them, clean them up and sell them.
Any opinions on my choices are welcome,
Pete

Many on the board on went with the Yoko's. I went with Pzero Nero's M&S. But you don't have to worry about snow. The PZero's are also sold as summer tires. I think you get a quieter longer ride with the PZero Nero's.
This is from what I've read a Tirerack.com and was told to by the different tire shops in the area. I got mine from Tirerack for $165.00 a tire, then had dealer install for $96 for all.

A question about your rims... Is the sparkle silver the same silver as the stock 17" 5 spoke rims?

Here's a picture of the Nero's tread.

Thanks,
Yeah... I'm starting to like the Pzero's over the Yoko's. Tire rack has them for $160.00 ea. So not too bad of a hit on price. $684.00 for 4 with shipping plus another $100.00-$120.00 for mount and balance. So total out of pocket will be around $800.00. Of course I could buy the Yoko's installed for $808.00 at the local Tire Kingdom. Well... I have some time to make up my mind.
Thanks again for the info... It's much appreciated,
Pete

^^ Yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I've never owned Yoko's. I've pretty much have always had Michelin's. I had a pair of P's a long time ago and went with them this time because TR.com price. Locally they wanted $228 for the Nero's

Don't over look the General Exclaim UHPs. I was very skeptical at first, but after much research, I purchased a set and am very happy. Very quiet and great handling. What really attracted me was the superior hydroplaning resistance and light snow capability. Great tires.

You don't need the winter performance in the M+S. The downside of the summer tires are price and less wear, but the upside in handling performance is significant.

I did some checking and you're right for me summer tires would be a better choice. The Rosso's however are really expensive $240 a tire vs. $140 for the Nero's.
I think this time around I'm going with the Yokohama AVS ES100's. I can get them locally and for the same price as the nero's + shipping.

I have used Yokohama AVS ES100 on my Volks for my Integra for 5 years now. And I swear by them, great handling and not much road noise. You can't go wrong with any Yokohama performane tire.

Check out Falken FK 452's. Discount tire has them (www.tires.com). They are the new and reportedly superior version of the ST115 which has been discontinued and I'm on my second set of. Quiet, sticky and cheap, which is important considering the way my Tl burns through tires. The Falken ST 115's or AVON M500's (from www.tirerack.com) will be my next tires. Haven't decided yet.

i have been extremely impressed with my Toyo T1R's. the reviews i have read were promising and they lived up to it. the yoko es100's a garbage for the price, don't waste your money.
i would say try the toyo t1r's or the proxes 4's, great value and incredible performance.
another option is tires-easy.com.
