Bottoming out struts with 1.8'' drop?

Hey all,

I feel like a noob for asking these questions, but here goes...

Ive researched this topic and didnt see anyone having posed this question before.

I have a 1.8'' drop on my '05 3G TL, as well does a friend of mine. We both have the factory bump stops shaved .75'' with a Koni Yellow SP3's. I have eibach springs, and he has the Neusped sport springs. Both of us bottom out rather easily up front on what I believe would be the bumpstops but the sound is more of a BOOOOM. This happens on moderate dips in the highways, like when transitioning to an overpass/bridge, etc...

I am just curious of a few things:

1) Is this normal that I should be reaching the limit of the strut this easily and would adjusting the dampening knob to stiffen the strut help or not? I'm thinking not....since its not load bearing and rather shock absorbing.

2) Are bumpstops always this loud when you hit them or am I not hitting the bumpstop at all... but rather something else perhaps?

3) Can bottoming out on the bumpstop in these situations damage the strut in the long term?

Thanks suspension veterans!

Andy

Did you have the Aspec suspension prior to this?
