Blown coilovers? Help

I have form and function type one coilovers installed in my car. Put them in 1 month ago and put only 1k miles on them but I think they are blown.I am dropped pretty low, I have no finger gap up front and slightly tucking tire in the rear.

On the highway I have noticed at speeds of like 80 mph where the road has many "bumps" and "dips" I will bounce around in my seat like a ragdoll, where the road is more thick and I am going to a less thick road the car feels like it "sinks" in and bounces back.

The ride is very bouncy at highway speeds but it only bounces on certain dips and bumps,it does NOT bounce on all bumps/dips. Sometimes I move in my seat other times i dont' but driving around town locally the ride is fine, I go over dips and bumps and it does not make me bounce in my seat.

The coilover is not greasy it looks new like the day I put them in. No noises when going over bumps,

The best way to describe it is....its a jarring bump and bounce and then its fine. Like today I had one passenger in the car and she cried out as the car bounced on a dip at 80 mph and I was pretty startled as well. I NEVER keep bouncing, its only once bounce or maybe two or three bounces if the road is really bumpy/dippy.

Suggestions?

ya im having similar problems ive had mine for a year and im pretty low. and i think they are blown too. it feels like my car is jumping all over the place and too bouncy (started happening last month). im rubbing more now and bouncing on everything. also hear a popping sound which is the sound you get when you blow a strut. mine have like 15k miles on them, but im surprised you are having problems at only 1k miles, thats really weird...

Just throwing this out there....but, have you had your alignment checked recently. My car was scary riding in when I first installed my coils, until I got my alignment done. If your TOE is different on each side it can cause a side-to-side pulling/wobbling effect.

Hopefully not the coils, but have you bottomed out on any big bumps/pot holes or run off the road at all?

I had a scare about a week ago when I was riding down the road I came up on quick dip and it souded like my car was going to fall apart. I immediately stopped and checked my tires/wheels, under carriage, oil pan, etc.
When i got home i parked it until the next day when I had time to pull the front wheels off and check my upper control arms for any bends or loose bolts.

Hope you get this fixed soon.

Some update.

I drove around town today over many bumps, dips, and uneven road surfaces....I had my windows down, NOT A SINGLE NOISE is coming from the struts. Say I hit a big dip in the highway...I will bounce in my seat ONCE and thats it...it NEVER continues to bounce.

At low speeds I don't bounce at all, when I exit my development the road I get onto is terrible and I have to go over many dips and bumps and I don't bounce at all.

Furthermore, I NEVER got an alignment after lowering my car, I thinking that is the problem. Its been 2 months now.

I will get one done asap.

Yeah .

But no shop near me could get my car onto the machine.... but I found a somewhat local firestone and the owner has a slammed G37 and the tech has a slammed RSX and they said they will hook me up.

ya thats prob your problem no alignment will cause your car to pull in all directions also check the lower control arm bushings. as for the bounce thats just the coilovers being stiff. i always see the little ricer civics with stiff suspensions bouncing around when they hit a bump and the people inside look like bobble heads

Gotta love the guys at firestone that are in the car scene community.
Hooked it up with a discount for my lifetime alignment after I had my HT-specs installed.

An alignment will correct any sway or boat-like feeling, but not solve the jarring issue. It could just be the coils, you may have to go a different route (try different brands) if they aren't up to your standards. From personal experience, the FF were the most stiff, then Megans, then Tein SS. I haven't tried any other types to compare; but if you care more for comfort, megans or tein SS is your best bet. not sure about ISC or others just based on personal experience

Do these coilovers have dampening adjustments? Try softening them some. Anyone know what spring rate these are?

And riding slammed doesnt change the effect (aka bouncy) because you are not adding load to the shock. The whole shock assembly is lowered when you adjust your coilovers. they should still ride the same at fatory height if raised up.

I've been doing some thinking, do you think it's possible that when you were adjusting the height for the coilovers you were actually adjusting the pre-load on the spring?

Not insulting your knowledge, but I'm just trying to help you out and "accidentally" adjusting pre-load came into mind. It is very possible for some people to make the mistake when trying to adjust the coilover height, to actually mess with the spring pre-load instead..
