Best tires for a smoother ride
I have an 08 TLS with 40k miles and what appear to be OEM tires. So it is time for new tires.
I do a lot of city driving and with the stiff suspension I find the drive to be a bit rough. I have read that the best way to improve the ride comfort is to get a set of tires that are not UHP.
What do you recommend?

haha ok thanks....i was just too lazy to search..
speaking of good tires, i was on tirerack.com and saw this Sumitomo Tires for $96/each...the brand and price made me feel they r kinda sucky....but the reviews were actually pretty good..one of them was actually coming from a 04 TL 6MT owner....

Yeah, I had the RE960AS. Wife thought they were quieter than the stock Michelin Pilot HXMX tires that came on the car...
If you get touring tires, don't get the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires. I had those too. One of the worst tires I've ever had... Suppose they were quiet, but they hydroplane very easily, and have terrible traction even in the dry, so that if you take a corner even mildly aggressive, they will howl and screech bloody murder.

All I've had OEM's and the Continental DWS tires, which are pretty darn sweet.

The Conti DWS are selling very well and highly recommended here and on Tire Rack. Personally I don't think you can beat a Michelin. Depends on what you want in a tire. My MXM4's are more of a touring tire, very quiet, smooth and excellent in the rain. I love them so far.

The problem is that you trade off smoothness for performance, to some extent, pretty much all the time. Where that tradeoff stops for you is going to be a matter of personal preference. Are you looking for the smoothest tire you can get or are you looking for something "smooth enough" but with some level of performance?
In addition to the tires mentioned here in this thread, I'll nominate the Michelin Pilot Exalto. They get great reviews for being smooth, quiet, great treadlife, and good traction. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
