Best all-weather tires?

I have 19 in. wheels and decided to put all-weather tires. Is there any best brand of all-weather tires and what tire size should I ride on? Thank you.

You'll get many opinions on this one... I'm partial to the new Pilot Plus from Michelin and have a set in the stock 235/45-17 size. I dunno about options for your 19 inch wheels though. How much snow/ice do you get in MA would be the question on my mind. I dunno if a 19 inch A/S will be particularly agressive given the wider footprint it makes... maybe dedicated snows?

Have a look at http://www.tiresizecalculator.info/ to see what kind of options you have. The closest two are: 305/25-19 and 225/30-19 according the their calculator.

+1 for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/W Plus. Mine are new three weeks ago, on A-spec 18's; not 19's so you never know. You're probably paying 20%+ extra for the name/reputation. But I'm kinda a name brand buyer.

For other opinions, check out tirerack.com. Great database of user reviews, plus you can sort and compare by tire type. We're talking super high performance all weather here. I think they had 20,000,000+ miles of reviews on the original Pilot Sport A/W, which was discontinued a few months ago.

And good luck.

Sorry; forgot you had a two part question.....

As to tire size, tirerack.com shows recommended wheel size for each tire. So get close size-wize and compare tires. Most tires have a recommended range of an inch or so in rim width. Just be careful re: clearance. If your wheels don't have much negative offset (stock is -45mm for both the 17" and the 18" A-Spec rims) you may not have much fender clearance.
