Base Model to Type-S brake kit conversion

Just got a 08’ TL Base and was planning to immediately upgrade to the Type-S brake kit since I noticed the current brakes were already on their way out when testing the car. (Got car on a steal so didn’t mind) Did some research and saw that you would have to replace the whole steering knuckle due to the Type-S caliper bolts not fitting on the base knuckle mount. Was wondering if I could just drill/tap the base knuckle to fit the bolts or if it is an absolute must to also have the Type-S knuckle?
