Back to square one

I am not sure if anyone even reads my posts because honestly I have never really gotten any responses. To recap if anyone cares. We bouth the Axis mod 7s with the maxis lip for our 6 speed TL. I know I know they don't fit but obviously we didn't know that when we ordered them. We have gone to the same "trusted" sales person for 6 years to get all of our rims and never had a problem well.... this time we did because he didn't take into account the oversized brakes (he knew we had them). Well we tried to get spacers but the shop where we bought them is treating us like crap and now I don't really trust them. I saw that EFlecha has the same rims on a 6speed and I tried to ask him how he got them to fit but of course no response. So finally to my point we are scrapping the Aixs rims and are not starting all over looking for rims. This time I will do it myself to make sure they fit. Thanks for all the non responses and wish me luck. :'(

I really hate to respond, but good luck.

I'm putting some Momo 18" wheels on in the next few days. I can measure the clearance from the standard brakes or the distance from the lip if that does anything for you.

I feel your pain...
Every time I post I get either no response or some wise ass remark. I have gone through the same problem with finding wheels that fit the Brembos. Luckily I have found some that do fit. I'll post some pics when I can get my hands on a camera.
I have a friend who hooked me up at www.bigwheels.net . They have a very nice web site and the staff are very staightforward, they don't BS you at all. Ask for Mario or Barry (the owner). If you do order through them tell them I referred you and that I have the same car as you. They are very smart and have been in the business for over 25 years.
Good Luck

-Chad

ps - I got the Prodrive GC010 19" x 8.5" 36mm offset

Here are the measurements that I took:

Stock 17" rims: outside of caliper assembly to inside of wheel vertical wall 1-3/16"

Stock 17" rims: outside of caliper assembly to inside of wheel round section: 1"

Momo 18" +45 X1: outside of caliper assembly to inside of wheel vertical wall 9/16"

Momo 18" +45 X1: outside of caliper assembly to inside of wheel round section: 9/16"

Momo 18" +45 X1: outside of caliper assembly to inside of wheel vertical wall 1"

Now, going with the +38 would gain you over 1/4" of clearance versus the vertical wall, so that looks good. The key is the other measurment. If you have at least 3/4" of clearance on your brembos versus the round surface, it should work.

I'm not sure how accurate my measurements are.

I am not sure if I understood the website or not We got our money back for the Axis rims so they are just sitting at the store where we bought them because they were "custom" and they had already mounted them on the tires. I am sure that they will just sell them to someone else and at this point I don't really care.

6MT obviously has Brembo clearance issues, but it's real easy to make sure your new wheels will clear as long as the wheel vendor is willing to measure the following for you:

.
.
.
Simply measure your current clearance. With knowing the rim widths and offsets of each you will know if the new will fit or not.

Merry wheel huntin'
