Avon Tech M550 A/S Tires?

Avon Tech M550 A/S Tires?
Greetings all,
I'm about to pick up my new 2005 TL this week (Abyss Blue/Camel, 6 speed), and was planning on changing the tires immediately. I've heard all the bad opinions of the stock Bridgestone Turanza EL42's, and here in Philadelphia, I have to be able to drive in snow in the winter.
I was going to buy the Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S, but saw good reviews on TireRack on the Avon Tech M550 A/S. Does anyone have any experience or views on this tire vs. the Pirelli?

My EL42's are nearly bald after 15,000 miles. I was considering these too, would appreciate a review on these as well. Looks like a very good tire for the price.

I'm also interested in the Avon 550's. My brother has used a variety of Avon's on his BMW's with good results.
