I'm looking at picking up a set of a-spec wheels and I'm leaning towards the sparkle silver or hyper silver (ebony/platinum) finish. Is the offset different between the 18x8.5(circa 2004) and 18x8 version? I understand the ss and hyper silver are 18x8, but what is the big advantage of going with the 8.5 wide other than the gunmetal finish? I will be running 245/50/18 tires, which fit both wheels. TIA

 

The offset is the same. I wanted a set of 18 x 8.5 because they were only made for one year.

Why are you planning on running 245/50/18 tires? That's going to throw off your speedo a few miles an hour. I'm running 245/40/18 all around.

 

typo...i meant 245/40/18 So outside of the gunmetal finish, there's no advantage going with the 18x8.5?

I haven't really read into it that much but I'm sure it's just because you can fit wider tires on them. I just wanted them for the rarity and for the color
