Aspec Suspension vs. Anyone else

Hey all. just wanted to know i've seen the Aspec suspension for 07/08 TL-S online for $650.

does anyone have these installed on there TL? if so does anyone have before and after pics?

is it worth it? or should one go with tein lowering springs and koni yellows or any other shocks. or just pay another 600 bucks and buy SS coilovers?

whats the pros and cons. i want a drop on my TL, not crazy slammed but just to get rid of the wheelwell gap.

appreciate any and all help.

I have an 08 tl-s and I put the a spec suspension and wheels on it about a week after i bought it. It is definitely better than stock, but doesnt give that aggressive look like other springs. I am going to trade out my a spec springs for tein s techs. These pics arent from the same angles but i hope they help. If i could do it over again I would just get some tein s techs and then when my struts went out I would get some koni yellows. Cheapest and easiest way to get a good drop in my opinion.

Get a set of of 255/40/18's on 04 A-spec wheels and you won't have to worry about the gap. Fills it up nicely without lowering the car

anybody have pics of that? seems like the tire would look "bubbly". I have the 235's now but am thinking of going 245 to make the wheels look thicker and fill in a little. any advice\?

If you want to get rid of the wheel gap, that takes a good drop. Bigger diameter wheels/tires will also raise the ride height slightly. Yeah it will fill in the wheel well more, but will not look quite right. A-spec susp will not get you anywhere near that kind of a drop that your going for. Best bet is coilovers, if you don't mind a firm ride. You'll kick your self later on if you ever want to change the ride height. The TL looks great with 1 - 0 finger gap.

Tein or H&R coilovers

Question. Would going to a bigger tire, or really overall diameter, than stock mess up your speedometer or odometer? I always thought the goal was to end up as close as possible to the stock overall diameter regardless of the rim size.

I know with my last truck, with bigger tires, you had to use a programmer to modify the computer to account for the difference in tire size.

There is a big thread on 255/40-17. Use SEARCH and try the term "255/40"; Depending on the specfic tire it does not look "bubbly", it looks good. Spiritman went 265 on stock 8" wheels.

Different diameter definetly has an effect on the speedo and odometer. Usually 3% or less is considered acceptable. Try this link for a calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

The most important thing is to keep all 4 wheels very close to the same diameter. Otherwise the wheel speed sensors will get confused and may initiate Traction Control/ABS/VSA with out need.

I went 245/45-17 and while slightly larger overall (about 5mm in sidewall), the look is still pretty good - not too much sidewall, with a little better filling of the wheel well gap, 5mm on each side. However, if I had to do it again, I'd probably go 255/40-17 to get more contact patch.

I have done just Eibach Pro coils b4. I have thought and researched on this question ALOT!!! I am getting Tein SS because the adjustability is great.

I have read that the A-Spec suspension lowers the car a little and improves the handling very nice. But the front of your car might be a little higher then the rear. Thats what I don't want. I was considering the Tein Basics, but I have heard some think they are a little too firm. I do like a firm car that handles, but I figure the Tein SS will allow me to adjust for my taste. I also plan on added the interior EDFC unit so I can preset one for normal driving, one for highway, and one for very aggressive driving. That will be awesome.

I say save and get Tein SS. I have a shop by me that will install Tein SS for $1440 out the door. That seems pretty good. Then he will install the EDFC for $530 anytime out the door.

Thanks for the responses. When it comes to drops, I'm definitely not a noob. This will be my 4th car dropped and I just am trying to decide how much comfort and cash I want to sacrifice for one less finger gap. 1st car was cut dropzone springs/stock shocks, 2nd was H&R on stocks, 3rd was megan racing full coilovers and now I bought an Aspec from my stepdad's lease. At least the front and rear are even gaps, but I would LOVE it to be lower but I DON'T want to feel like I'm riding around in a bigger version of my RSX (read: bang bump bang). We'll see, I guess. Looks like 235's are a little skinny to me on the rim because the lip sticks out a bit more than the tire. I think 245's will be good and look a little thicker without looking bubbly. Yokohama YK520 is what I'm looking at...a little more than the kuhmo asx's that are on it now but I LOVE that 520 treadwear rating.

Make sure to get the Manual ones...and I think the newer years are a bit lower. Don't quote me though...not sure.
