Aspec suspension

Im thinking about purchasing an aspec suspension. I currently have an 04 TL Base 6MT. Im not satisfied with the base suspension. Im curious how much better the a spec suspension is than stock? how much worse is the ride quality?

It's 5 better, and 3 worse.

ride comfort depends on the type/size of tires you have. i rode around on 235/45-17s and the ride comfort was ok. uneven roads were more noticeable.

the car's handling improved slightly. understeer improved but it was definitely still there.

what kind of tires are you on?

Aspec suspension works best when paired with a Progress RSB.

OP-please search.

short answer: what are you looking for in the suspension??? better handling?? firmer ride?? what do you not like about the base suspension??? your questions are vague at best as to what you want or they are just poorly worded.'

the other short answer: aspec is noticeable from stock. firmer, increased road feel, tighter handling, no float over speed humps...as otacon said....pair it with the progress RSB and you're golden and you'll be when you take turns and corners (BTW i'm on OEM spec'd 18's). with all that said the limiting factor at that point will be the tires.

And then after that, it's the damn seats. After adding 235/40-18 Continental DW summer tires, I now realize this car's seats have very poor side bolstering.

Swapped out A-Spec from HT Spec IIs.

Mildly impressed, but my colon remains stationary over bumps.

i'm kinda of little, so i tend to slide around on the seat when i hit turns. the seat bolster on the bottom keeps me in the seat pretty well in the TL, but in the MDX i end up with my hip in the door (bought the car used, apparently the previous owner was a soccer mom...a short heavy one, since the bolster on my Lt. is softer from her slidign in and out of the car).

the TL seats i love a lot actually. they conform to me quite well, but like i said i'm a lightweight driver. the MDX seats are a bit more cushy.

Well around turns I feel the body roll, the car feels uneven on the street and like I'm pushing it too far. I want the car to feel firmly planted to the road I don't want to slide out of the seat. I previously had KYB gr2's and 1 inch lowering springs on a maxima. Handling was excellent ride quality was a little too rough though. I know there were 1000 posts about this and I've read a lot, but it's a big investment I don't want to hear "it's noticeable"
I want to hear you'll love it it's much better the best investment I've made.

People have experimented with different shocks paired with different springs. Both aftermarket and OEM. A good combo is Koni yellows and Aspec springs. Again, paired with the Progress RSB, the Apsec suspension is great, but if you add the Koni shock the equation you get an even more planted feel. Since I already have a Type S I'm adding the Progress RSB and Aspec suspension and eventually the Koni yellows.
Use the search function and look up I Hate Cars. He has talked about suspension mods more than anyone on here. All good info.

well having progressed my way from base to aspec...yes....it is night and day with a much more planted feel and less body roll than stock. the ride quality is tolerable for a daily driver. then i added the progress rsb set to street (soft) setting....WOW. little if any body roll and the car is planted around turns and corners. i'm very pleased with my set up. i was not looking for an aggressive drop, so for about an inch...the car has a subtle drop look. aspec was tuned for the car by acura, so the engineers put a lot of R&D into it. and what otacon said above...yes...IHC is a guru on here.

however if you want a drop and performance too...look elsewhere. which usually means "go with coilovers" as many say but give no reason. yes it's adjustable, BUT if you keep adjusting ride height you need to keep dropping dimes on an alignment. and you spend $$$$.

thanks everyone for the info. ive had cars before that were lowered about 2 inches and i didnt like the ride. The inch drop would be perfect. i was also looking at form and function type 1. people were raving about how good the ride was even slammed but got scared off by some posts about blown fronts going over potholes at 10mph. i live in ny cant risk it even with warranty.

Despite what the popular opinion on cars is, lower is not always better. There's a point where you're too low and the car is unstable at speed. TL loses it's predictable cornering ability after a certain point. The amount of time and money Acura put into the Aspec option for the TL means it's all designed for it and as close to perfect as possible.
