Anyone using Falken ZE 912's?

I'm wondering if any of you folks are running this tire.

What is the noise level like and how do they handle? Can't stand noisy and sluggish tires.

Thanks for any help!

Im running 245 40 on A-spec wheels. I really like these tires. The grip is awesome in wet conditions as well as dry. I haven't been afraid to push the car around turns on wet roads and cant seem to break the grip on dry even if i tried. However, their not that great in the snow, but it could just be the wider tire and thinner sidewall im running compared to stock. Road noise is very minimal. It's a great tire for the price.

Thanks. Do the sidewalls feel stiff enough? I had the ZE 512's on my last car and they felt soft. Made the steering feel kinda sluggish.

Not at all. Feels great to me. I think the 40 sidewall is a good balance between comfort and sport on the A spec wheels.

if you are aggressive on a corner you will feel the sidewalls are slightly mushy... but you know what... in the rain... these bad boys go to work...

Hmmm....That's not good.

I guess I'll see soon enough. I'm going to give them a try tomorrow. At least I have 30 days to see if I like them, of course, it will only take me about an hour to be able to tell.

I'm surprised more members don't run on these tires.

I've been reading the reviews over on Discount Tire Direct....Every review that mentions snow, says these tires SUCK in it. I'm canceling my order tomorrow. If I'm gonna buy an all season tire I want it to actually be an all season tire. Three season is not good enough in NJ.

Thanks for the info men. Much appreciated.

dude... in new jersey... it snows.... right... but it is the same as NY... I barrelled through the snow this past year.... if you plan to go over 60mph in snow... that is on you... 50mph in snow... they were awesome... 40mph in snow... didn't even feel like it was snowing... getting out of a parking spot where the snow was 6 inches... NO PROBLEM at all... sorry, dunno what you heard... $400 for all 4 corners... shit... can't beat that with a baseball bat... these tires are no joke... wanna meet up and go for a test drive

Falken Ziex 912 vs Goodyear ASF1

I plan on writing a full write up on this but with my personal experience I did not like the Falken Ziex 912 at all. I paid $ 457.00 out the door at Sears for 4 tires ( Great price for a 245/45 17 inch tire.
Here is my short expereince - I bout the car with 36K miles and it had the OEM Michelines which were almost shot, but I drove on them for another 2K miles and they drove OK - raina was scary but considering there was little tread what can be expeceted - so I read reviews and decided on the Falkens - kept them 2 weeks an I was returning them - felt really mushy in the corners - even at lower speeds - totally changed the driving expereince of the car. I bought the car for the driving expereince otherwise I would have bought a Camry.
SO I bit the bullet and bought the GoodYear AS F1 and paid an additional $310.00.
SO Far I have been very pleased with all aspects of the tire - It is a great looking tire from sidewall to tread, nice rim/lip protector, stiff sidewall with nice cornering. All and all a great tire - if the tires last for at least 40K then I will buy again.

One thing that bugged me on the Falken Ziex 912 was that on the sidewalls of the tire they were inbosed with the words "OUTSIDE" - and ofcourse on the inside of the tire "INSIDE" - I think maybe a small O or maybe making it alot smaller - either way I always hated that - made the tire feel cheap
Now on a plus side of the Falkens - they rode great - lots of cushion and smooth ride but I guess that goes with the softer sidewall.

SO good luck with your decision - If you can fork the change get the GoodYears - better to spend the extra money now then regret something for the next 40K miles - Cause its sucha fun car to drive

BTW. Dont tell my wife I paid $767.00 for tires (She wouldnt be happy)

just for the record when I say aggressive on a corner I mean... go into the corner braking... then when you are in it floor the piss out of it... the tires feel mushy then.... but it isn't something to the point where you lose traction or you oversteer... it is just a slight feeling kinda like how when you take an aggressive corner and the tires are still cold...

ps. I paid $350 for 245/40-18

Yeah...the price, on these tires, is great, that's for sure.
stillhere153 - you are the only person who has had a positive comment on the snow behavior of the 912. I just couldn't feel comfortable buying them, so I have the RE960 Pole Positions on order. Should get them mounted next Wednesday.

Yes - paid $250 more for the 960's
