? for any techs about lower ball joint removal
As many of you know our lower ball joints are located in the steering knuckle. I had to remove one of mine after trashing the threads with the ball joint separator(don't ask). Also, as many of you know our lower ball joints need a special adapter to press them out of the knuckle. Needless to say nowhere rents the adapter that our cars need only the adapters for older Hondas/Acuras.
I ended up baking my whole knuckle in the oven then taking it outside holding it with an oven mitt, and beat the hell out of the old ball joint with a 3lb hammer until it finally came out. I didn't know Honda had finally started selling just the ball joints. So, I replaced it with a Moog, and I'd prefer to replace the other side and that Moog with OEM. Anyway, what do you techs use, the Snap-on BJP1-24 adapter? It's like $54 on their website, but I was hoping I'd be able to get a deal off the truck since my sister works at a Dealership and I'm friendly with most of the techs there. |
