Any real problem using spacers?

I've talked to two local tire shops and both tell me that the wheel I want (Privat Netz) will not work on my car because I have the 6MT.

I ask about using spacers/hub centric rings and they all tell me that they would not recommend it.

Is there any harm in using spacers/hub rings so I can get the wheels I want?

Which model?
I'm not a big fan of spacers, but what size are needed?
Hubcentric rings not a problem.

I'm actually not sure. Maybe someone knows and could answer for me? I'm looking at either 18 or 19" Privat Netz.

I drive the car pretty hard so I don't want to mess up handling, stability, etc.

Do Hubcentric rings basically do what spacers do in that they push the wheel out farther, in this case, so it won't hit the caliper?

The rings are to adapt the larger center bore to the proper factory hub size. They do not increase/decrease the position of the wheel.

Ok, so they won't help with my problem. Guess I'm looking at spacers or different wheel. Tire shops were really against spacers but I, of course, don't understand all the technical problems they create.

I wanted Private Netz and was ready to get spacers to make them fit. I don't care what ppl here say about them. Most of them don't show any proof that they are bad for your car.

Are you sure you will need a spacer? The Privat NETZ 18x8's 5x114.3 have an offset of 40. I bought a set of 18x8 enkei's witha 40 offset that supposedly werent suposed to fit over the brembos. If they recommend against hub rings I would find another place to have my wheels installed.

What I did was bought one rim from buywheelstoday http://www.buywheelstoday.com/search/wheels.asp since there policy states if they show the wheel fits and it doesn't then they will refund all costs including return shipping.

Only time we ever sheard studs is when they are constantly over torqued .
