I live in houston, TX (never snow) and it is time to replace the BS EL42. I have my mind set on the Firestone Wide Oval but the sale person at Firestone insist that I should get the G009 for my car since it lasts much longer, better (quieter) ride, and cheaper. I have Koni and eibach, comptech RSB for better handling and the G009 have some what softer side wall...So is it crazy to get those G009 with 50K treadwear warranty?? hehehe...i am getting them in 245/45/17...by the way i am getting them at half off since i am trading in my EL42 so they are selling me any set of tires for half off no labor charges..

looking at the review on tirerack and most of the cars are taurus and minivan that use G009 so i guess they are not for sporty car..
