Air ride?

hey guys, i have seen a couple of people with it on their tl. i was just wondering how difficult is the instillation and if you have to notch the frame. Also a rough estaminet of what it cost?

Italiano 07-18-2012 12:10 AM

Maybe Ravin can help u....RPTLS08...

rptls08 07-18-2012 03:49 PM

the installation wasnt hard at all. honestly the most pain in the ass part is just getting the damn back seat out.

installing the bags themselves is no different from doing coils except you might have to drill some holes depending on where you want to run your lines. alot of people chose to run them under the car. i chose to run them inside in the lower panel where the speaker wire runs on the passenger side. i did this to protect the lines from nature. also running the power line is a pain. its not difficult but its frustrating because of lack of space in some parts of the car.

my frame is not notched but im planning on doing some modification so i can lay frame but thats not gonna happen for a while.

the cost can vary. airrunner, D2, and ksport make full kits. airrunner and ksport will cost you around $4000 for just the kit and a full D2 kit will cost you about $6400. installation cost depends on where you live. i dont really have a quote on that because i did my own install. ive got custom D2 bags with ridetech management myself and i love it.

hit me up if you have any questions

pbmike101 07-18-2012 06:38 PM

i would do it myself. I have some friends that have ran air on their vw. what psi do you have it on when you drive?

rptls08 07-18-2012 07:48 PM

PSI changes a little depending on the weather and what not and it changes at different heights. fronts are in the 40-45 range and rears are usually 55-60 range for my regular ride height which is 1 finger gap on all 4 wheels. i also have a "show" ride height which is the tire tucking and the rim flush with the fender. not sure on the psi for this because i usually visually set it before driving. i only use that height when im part of a caravan to meets and leaving meets. i cant drive fully aired down because it would rub in the front the second i made a turn. if i had a straight line to my destination i could drive all the way down haha

do you ever go to 0 psi when you are parked at a meet? Also have you had any problems with the bags yet cause my friends usually have a small leak at around 5,000-7,000 miles. 808 what is the website for them i have heard that baggedriders have had some good prices

boosted2000si 07-19-2012 10:04 AM

Gosh thats a lot of money for an air ride setup.

You can email manuel at, manny@forjworks.com if you have any questions. As far as I know AirRex has been getting good reviews.

rptls08 07-19-2012 12:13 PM

when i fully air down my PSI gets down to about 1-2. Ive hit 0 before but there were no issues. Ive been running the bags for about 10k miles now and i havent had one issue.

pbmike101 07-19-2012 02:33 PM

thanks guys, rptls what are you camber settings? and what camber kit are you running

rptls08 07-19-2012 02:45 PM

at my normal ride height its about -1.5 in the rear and about -.5 front. when im fully dropped im not really sure what the camber is set at. its def alot though. im using SPC front and rear camber kits.

I would say D2 based on those options. Airrex are the best in the market IMO. Also if you haven't already, check out this thread ---> https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-t...-chime-949864/

There is alot of good information regarding bags, management, installation, etc.
