Aftermarket tpms
After having cars with tpms, I find I'm missing it on my 2004 tl. Has anyone installed an aftermarket one?
Either the in the wheel system or just the valve cap variety with a wired or cigarette lighter powered display?

2004 doesn't have tpms?
1. Why would you install one on valve stem? If you don't have tpms or is doesn't work just check the pressure manually. Temperature drops outside a lot? Well your tires are probably low. It goes up? Then it's probably high. One tire looks low? Well it probably is. Ride is rough of weirdly soft? Check. In reality you would be checking it like 2-5 times a year.
2. If OEM doesn't work anymore Aftermarket works OK as long as they "fit" the car. They operate on different frequencies but it's really easy to find the right one. Either go to Napa, auto zone, etc. And tell them what you drive. They will be able to match them up. Then go to some place that does tires so they car replace them.
If you decide to get valve stem sensor don't forget aftermarket GPS, backup camera, FM transmitter, at least 2 radar detectors, dash cam, and led foot lighting that is on all the time and goes through color spectrum. Then your car will be equipped for 2018! And obviously you would need at least 4 power splitters to connect all those goodies.

The 04 didn't come with tpms. I'm not interested in dash cam, radar detectors or anything else. Just tpms.
Valve stem ones don't require a trip and payment to a tire place. Some of us aren't swimming in cash. Lol

BBY had the Rand McNally TPMS on sale for $50 about a month ago. I snagged it at that price and it seems to work fine. The BT interface unit holds a charge for a long time, ~2 weeks or more.
