advise needed on wheels

What do you guys do to get the old wheel weight tape (flim) off after you get your tires rebalnced? There has to be a trick to this, I've been picking at it with a razor blade and just makeing a mess. Thanks

This is just a stab in the dark...but I think Goo Gone would work.

Wrong section, But to answer your question, Brake cleaner has worked for me in the past.

I heard ol' skool technique you could use is to soak a rag in oil and rub on the adhesive til it rubs away.

Moved to the proper sub-forum.

To answer your question, there are a few methods you can use:
1. Soak a rag in goo-gone or wd40 and try cleaning with those, but do not use paint thinner, it will damage the finish. Beware, do not try this if you have chrome wheels.

2. Soak a towel (Microfiber is best) and let it sit on the area where the film is. This will saturate it and make it easier to remove with the razor blade as you used, or via a brush.

WHAT will damage the chrome wheels? Goo Gone? WD40? That sounds surprising to me.

I use "De-Solv-it", it's like Goo Gone but cheaper. Found it at Wal-mart. After spraying, let it soak in for a bit and it should be easier to rub off.

Paint thinner might affect the surface.

Try the WD40, it should do the trick.
