I bought some Winter tires last year and need to put on some tires for the summer as my Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S are worn out. I liked them but want to try something new.

I decided to go with all seasons because the treadwear on the summers were around 300. Most of the all seasons are around 400.

I drive hard so I don’t want to spend $165 unless those Yokos are really that great. I value performance, but I also like a decent quiet ride. Winter performance is not that important since I have winter tires. Do you have any comments on these tires? I read the reviews at tire rack and discount tire which is why I’ve picked the 4 below. I’m leaning towards the BFG because its in the middle for price and seemed to have good ratings. Or are the Conti’s too good of a deal to pass up? Thanks!

I would probably avoid the Continental's just because I have never really heard anything good about them. For All-Season performance, I went with Kumho Ecsta ASXs and have been pretty legit so far. I love these tires. Another popular one for the price and performance is the Falken 912 I believe. Both of these tires are All-Season performance tires and worthy for their cheaper price in comparison to the ones you have listed.

However, if you are trying to choose from one of the four on your list, I have heard good things about the Goodyears. I would probably go with those.

I was gonna consider the BF Goodrich jointz but was a little skeptical. Then REALLY was about to purchase the Goodyear F1's BUT read too many bad reviews on here and on tirerack.com....needless to say i chose niether and ended up paying $188 per tire for my michelin pilot sports! i had these on my 02' max and they were GREAT! they get a lil noisy adter about 45k but u can EXPECT 55-60k out of them depending on the way u drive and where u drive. my $.02

???...the F1 A/S are ranked ahead of the Pilot Sport A/S on Tire Rack> Not sure where you got that.

I'm seriously considering the F1 A/S, I was leaning towards the Michelins, but the Goodyears have tested as well and are almost $100 per tire cheaper....at least up here.

The F1's that had received bad reviews were all, or mostly all, on oversize rims, not stock rims. Most of the complaints could not be attributed to the rubber, rather to the metal. JC.

I am enjoying my General Exclaim UHP Ultra Hi Performace tires on 18" Enkei's 2001 TL
While rated #1 Summer performance on tirerack, they earned a M&S rating due to tread design and super silica whetevers in the rubber.
highest wet rating, AA wet braking- for when you really need good braking!
and they hang on as hard as I care to push them in the dry and twisties with Tein SS and other suspension and brake upgrades
Bargain priced for excellent tires IMO

I have had the ContiExtremes and Avon Tech M550 A/S ... and BOTH are amazing tires. They are reasonably quiet and get great wear.... and the avon's are a HUGE upgrade over the mich's that came std on my 07 type S!!!

i think u'd be happy with either of these 2 tires!

Ok, so it sounds like the Toyos are not worth it. I'll look more into the Kumho Ecsta ASXs and Falken 912. I thought I eliminated those two tires based on some neg reviews, but that was a while ago when I checked. I picked the four because they were highly ranked on tirerack.

Tom, I got about 20-30K miles on the Pzeros. I can't remember. It might have been closer to 25K-30K but as you can see from the pics I attached, I waited too long!

I was looking at all those tires, too.

The Goodyears and Michelins are very popular on here.

Not sure about BFGs b/c they are known for their 4x4 offroad tires.

There is also the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Positions A/S, which seems to be the better choice d/t better treadlife and pretty good all around performance. (I would get these if I needed an all season tire. Very good/solid reviews.)

Also there is the Nitto NeoGen, which is pretty new.

I have decided to get the Yokohamas S.Drive instead, which is a summer tire.

If you are running winter tires in the off season than take advantage of the sporting nature of your car and go with real summer tires. If you drive as hard as you say you do than you really should not take any shortcuts. Go back to Tirerack and take a good look at Bridgestone RE-01's and read some of the reviews. These tires are amazing and turn the car into a real cornering machine.

I think I'm going with the RE960's over the Yokohama S4's. The Good Year F1's have gotten some shaky reviews and I don't really care for the tread design, either, so those are out for me.

I just got some Nexen N7000's for my 18" aspecs. I never heard of them before...but did some research and they had good reviews so I gave them a shot. The tires are great!! Quiet ride...handles well in wet and dry. The tread pattern is great for wet roads.

General Exclaim UHP from Tire Rack. Around $90 a piece, sold as ultra high performance summer tire, UTQG 380 AA A, W speed rated and top rated in the owner's survey. I'm on my second set (different car) and highly recommend.

In the interest of this thread is worthless without pics!!

My 01 TL rides on 235-40-18 General Exclaim UHP (made in Chezk Republic).
Check out the intricate sub-patterns in the tread design, thats how it got the M&S rating while being the best rated Summer Performance on tirerack.
Summer performance also means RAIN BRAKING conditions and these get AA, the highest, not many M&S or Summer tires earn that- the tread design channels water away very well--- less hydroplane issues.
Its the below freezing temps that Summer tires dont like, so M&S tires are designed with different compounds.

These are directional tires- there is an ----> arrow on them. They can be mounted on either side of the car/rim, just have to run in the forward direction once installed. Some directional tires are right side or left side specific.

Go to a real tire store and look at each brand- get the stores suggestions.
Seeing and touching things- looking at tires side by side- gives a real feel for what is the right tires for you.

I switched from the stock 16" mickyslips to this 18" combo.
The cornering, straight line handling, stopping wet and dry, general hangonabilty,
low noise, decent life for the price, `The Wife` likes them! and track-day style driving approved!! (IMO)
In you are looking at: Value for Money Spent- these are winners. IMO

I have experience with the Eagle F1 A/S and the BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S. I had the Eagle F1's for about 10k miles and they were amazing up until the last few thousand miles. I started experiencing major cupping and the road noise that resulted was pretty loud. I must admit that it probably wasn't the tire's fault, but instead due to my negligence (didn't align the wheels after the new tires were put on, didn't rotate them soon enough, and they were overinflated due to the recent increase in temps...pretty much everything I wasn't supposed to do). It's possible that the very aggressive tread design is more prone to uneven wear, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have a problem with it until much further in the tread life.

I replaced the F1's with the BFG's and I've had them on for about 2 weeks now. I've driven them in rainy conditions and I'm pretty satisfied with them. I'd say they're about on par with the Eagle F1's in terms of dry/wet handling. Maybe a little worse, but not by much...nothing really noticeable. The tires are fairly quiet, either the same level of road noise or slightly quieter than the F1's, but overall pretty average with a high performance tire.

I think both the Eagle F1's and the g-force SS's are great, affordable choices. If you can afford to spend a little more money, I think you should try out the F1's because I really did like them alot. But, just because of what happened to me, I suggest being cautious of the treadwear...but keep in mind my poor maintenance. I kind of rambled a bit there, but hope this was helpful.

Well after about 200 miles on them, these tires are very quiet compared to my other set of wheels/tires (19x8 w/ Hankook Ventus Sports). No annoying whine at all. The sidewalls might be a bit softer from what i hear from American Tires, but quite frankly, I can't tell the difference. Maybe that's due to the fact i'm running 245/40/18 on 18x8.5 wheels. All in all, very glad i purchased these tires.

i have had my P Zero Nero M+S for a year now. they have 30k miles on them and they are still doing great. i could probably get another 10-20k out of them easily. they are good in the snow but i want snow tires for next winter.

Is $169 a sale price? I thought they were closer to $180 when I checked a few days ago. They also have a $75 gif card which lowers the price to $150 per tire.

Anyone know how Discount Tire B&M stores price match with tire rack? I have a local Discount Tire that I'd like to go to. Do they match the price and add shipping? Any tips to get the best price?

I know that the local American Tire's and Discount Tire's chain do offer to price match the prices found on Discount Tire Direct (internet). It's worth a shot to see if they'll price match Tire Rack as well.

But you should include shipping. I went to the local Firestone store and they're very competitive when you compare tirerack's cost with the shipping. So I'm thinking of going to the dealership and having them beat the price. It's possible to do actually. Since I'll be asking them to do an alignment as well.

But $75 card is nice too, not sure if the dealership will have it, so I might just go to the firestone store if they don't.

Went to Discount Tire by me, and asked about the BFG's. Sales guy has them on his truck and said they are a lot better than the F1's. He's had both on his truck (stock F150) and he likes the BFG better. That is what I'm getting (besides the $50 per tire difference), I've never had a problem with BFG, Goodyears never seemed to wear good for me.

i still think that my avon's are the way to go... they are a HUGE improvement over the stock michelins that came on the 17s

i have the avons on the aspec 18s and the car corners like it's on rails.... seriously... i couldnt get the car to break loose with MORE-THAN-AGGRESSIVE driving.

and, they are very affordable... and ULTRA high performance rubber...

oh, and they were great in the snow too... had them on my 04 TL too.. (now i'm driving an 07 TL-S)

don't go cheap on the tires, it can cost you your life. I have heard reviews on the GY F1 eagles and also a few for the TL in which it reduces MPG due to the high rolling resistance and weight. I got the Bridgestone Potenza 960A/S and love them. They also come with a 30 day money back guarantee, if you don't like them, give them back.

I have just over 10,000 miles on them. Excellent traction in all types of weather conditions and still no signs of wear. Unlike some else here who complained about cupping at 10K miles, I had a wheel alignment done when they were installed. No road noise issues.

I stopped by Discount Tire and they had the Goodyear F1 and Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions in stock. The sales guy said the Bridgestone were sportier and thought the handling would be better than the F1. The Bridgestones were $30 more but with the rebate it was only $11 more so I went with those. They also have a 40K mi treadwear warranty so that helped. So far (4 miles) they seem quiet and smooth. Can't wait to try them in some turns!

I actually wanted to try the General Exclaim UHP (so cheap), but they didnt have them in stock and I wanted to get it done ASAP.
