8.5 rim flush with fender, what offset needed?! Help!
Going with a 18x8.5 and I want the wheels to sit flush, no poking or tucked behind the fender. What offset do I need? I was told 25 but that seems pretty low. Sorry but it's hard to find specific threads with direct answers.

what are your offset options?
+25 sounds pretty good for a 8.5" wheel...but you could probably go a tad lower if you have the option.

25 seems a little too much. It might stick out too much ???
I think +35 offset is about flush.
I bought a set of used wheels, 19"x8.5" with a +36 offset, and the photos of these wheels on his BBK 06 TL look perfectly flush.

THANKS FOR THE THREAD JACK GUYS.
+26 seems really low and I'd rather run a 30 and if I need to run a 5mm spacer. Better safe than sorry.

+25 in the back on a 8.5" rim isnt bad, really id rather run a wider rim in back though with similar offsets so you can get a stretch on the tire to make it fit better

NO. Stretching tires is out and so is wider rims. Can't afford to not be able to rotate them. I'm not slamming the car, guys. I just want to know what rides flush.

What size tires are you plan on running? I'm doing 19x8.5 +23 rims, 235 tires with about a 1.75-2 inch drop. I rolled my fenders though, in hopes of not rubbing after all is said and done. I can let you know how that works out and looks, if my damn coilovers would ever come in so I can get everything installed.

18x8.5" on 235/40/18. CLtotheTL just helped me out a lot in a PM. I'll be ordering +30 offsets for them all and most likely no spacer on the rear or a 5mm spacer.
Thanks everyone for your input, I hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation.

parasitus and phlames are both King Kong Dave...I BET you...all new members, all have same tone. He already almost admitted it in another thread for Gatrthumpy's type s purchase.
Anyway, BOT.
Did you do your homework, son!?!? Are you rolling fender?!? Are you lowering to get RID of wheel gap?!?! Are you going to leave negative camber or correct it!? If correcting it (on rear) are you going to use the 2 arm lower camber kit or 1 arm upper camber kit.
ALL these need to be answered before we can help you decide!
WITHOUT A ROLL, +35 is pretty safe. BUT, once you see +25 you'll love it.
With my 9" wheels...almost all the way down on tein, rolls and hammered flat front tab with a 225 tire and upper camber arms with -1 up front and -1.5 rear (or so) and +35 front and +25 rear

8.5 by 18 aspec with +25 rear and +35 front (IIRC when I took this) on 235 wide rubber, same camber as above

+30 on a 235 will be a safe bet, but you'll probably end up wanting to bring the back out a little with a spacer since the TL looks so much more sunken in the back on a square setup. I went +33F/+26R and will probably end up adding a 2 or 3mm spacer to the front. I should have gone 31/26.

Undying, if you were someone that didn't care about being flush, I'd say HAVE at it!
You're showing your age by wanting to do things the hard way first!!!
Trust us, if flush is important to you, first drop, then roll, then determine if you're ok with the negative camber, then get out a ruler and if you have an inch from edge of tire to fender, you can deduct 25MM to your current offset.
Otherwise...I see a F/S thread for your currently purchased weak offset wheels in your future!

After seeing Tyler's car with the EXACT same specs as I'm wanting, +30 looks perfect for the front. I'll most likely run a 5mm spacer on the rears like I posted before.

I am but I want all the rims to be the exact same. 5mm spacers aren't bad. Tonight I'll take a pic of my spacers that my dad built for my S10. We put replica Corvette rims on it and it needed about a 3 inch spacer
