6MT - Tire Pressure

Yesterday, I increased the tire pressure on my 6MT to 35/33 (Toyo Proxes 4 235/45/17). I have been told that somewhat higher pressure than what is recommended on the inside of the door is better for performance, but I don't know why that is. I once had an Audi and the service guy told me that a little lower pressure is actually better for performance. Can anyone explain the deal with this?

Higher pressure will give you better gas mileage because of less drag, when accelerating, due less rubber on the ground.

Lower presure will give you more meat on the ground for more grip when maneuvering.

I'd say stick to the pressure recommended by Acura. They tested the car for safety, and did all that R&D for a reson.
