3G TL Replacement Tire Comparative Analysis Table

Moderator – I request that this listing be made into a “sticky”

“TIRE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS TABLE”
http://home.comcast.net/~jherick/TL/tires.htm

This table will allow you to compare over 40 replacement tires for the third generation Acura TL based on information and testing from TireRack. You can review actual cost (cost divided by mileage), Ride performance, Noise performance, Wet track performance and Dry track performance. By comparing the table information to a tire you have now or are familiar with, you can predict the overall comparative performance of most available replacement tires. “No test” in the table indicates that there was no test that I could cross reference as each test had to include the Goodyear RSA tire for reference.

For Cost - a lower number is better. Tires with a wear rating of 400 are the reference so their cost rating will be the same as the TireRack price.

For Performance - a higher number is better. A difference of 2.0 or less in rating will most likely not be noticeable, but this is just a guess.

Click on “http://home.comcast.net/~jherick/TL/tires.htm” to view the table

To copy to your computer:
1. Right click on the Table and the “Select All” from the menu
2. Go to the Edit menu at the top of the page and select Copy (or Ctrl-C)
3. Go to a blank EXCEL or WORD file, click somewhere in the page, then select Edit and Paste (or Ctrl-V).

To use the table in Microsoft EXCEL:
1. Make the first column wider by dragging the junction between the 1st and 2nd column to the right.
2. Select Format, Row, Autofit to make the rows smaller and the table easier to view.
3. Click in the small blank box in the upper left corner, left of cell A and above cell 1, to select the entire table.
4. Select “Data” from the top of the page, and ensure “Header Row” is selected at the bottom of the pop-up.
1. You can then sort on “Cost” (ascending order), or any of the performance columns (descending order).

To use in the table in Microsoft Word:
2. Right click in the table, click on “Table” at the top of the page, then Select and Table from the pull-down menus. The entire table should now be highlighted.
3. Click on “Table” and then Sort to sort the table for the information you are interested in (example: Cost, Dry, Ride). Make sure the “Has header” at the bottom of the pop-up is selected.
4. You can sort on “Cost” (ascending order), or any of the performance columns (descending order).
5. Once the data is sorted you can click anywhere in the table to remove the black highlight and make the data easier to read.
