Hello All,
As one of our members have tried and successfully placed 255/40/17 shoes on OEM's, I'm getting RonJon's 18x8.5 Inspyres. I know I don't have to worry about fitment of these wheels as they are RJ's but my question and concern would be is if I can put on Toyo proxes 255/45/18 on them and not worry about rubbing? I don;t want them sticking out either. What do you think? Thanks for any guidance.

llaroco,

best way is to go to tire shop.Tell the guy that you want to try this size and if you are happy with it you will buy.
If they stick out too much to your liking that you won't buy.
Any good tire store will work with you.

Good luck.

Pretty sure they will rub. My 255/40/18 barley rub on hard fast corners

Where do the 255/40/18 rub. Assume you are running 04 A Spec Gunmetal 8.5. Is that with stock springs or A spec etc...

I'm running full A-spec. Rub is in front. Lip can be rolled, but it is so minimal and happens very rarley I'm not planning on doing so.

I just put back the A Spec 8.5 with new 255/40/18 today. I see your point, yet having the stock suspension with my wife driving 99% of the time and never more than 7/10ths it is also will be most likely be a non issue. I think 255/45/18 just don't add anything more you can get to the mix on 18's. It's adding 1 inch on wheel diameter from the 255/40 which is just below problematic and for what? BTW very happy with the 255/40/18 although I only drove it a few miles. Yet, the look alone is nasty and the ride/handling is very decent.
