255/40r17???
Would 255/40R17 Blizzaks fit nicely on the stock rims, or would that leave too much of an overhang? Also wonder if the Blizzaks in that size would perform well or not.

i was looking into it.. myself..
it was either 245/45/17 or 255/40/17.
I think (and u'll have to double check this) is that minimum wheel width for the 255 tire is 9.0 and our OEM tired width is 8.5
There is a pic on a forum where a guy put 255's on.. they look "phat", but I went with a safer route and got 245.
good luck

Preferably for Winter Tires you want to go as narrow as possible to increase the weight per Square inches.
A wide tire in the winter is not good as it has a tendency to float on top without decent adhesion and it is even worse with the use of road salt melting the snow in slush.
I have yet to use my 2005TL in the snow (Bought April 18, 2005) but I plan on buying 4 Acura 16 inch steel wheel (I got a 5-AT) and buy 16 inch winter tires as narrow as I will be able to get.
Not knowing the type of winter condition you get in your region, I can only speak for the winter driving conditions I encounter in Quebec and Atlantic Canada and for me even though the Blizzaks are very good winter tires, I had very good experience and have been very satisfied with Nokian winter tires since 1991.
Best regards from Montreal, Quebec, Canada (It's up North, Eh!)

Thanks for the input... actually found a set of 234/45R17 Blizzak LM22's on Ebay for $300. They have about 1,800 miles on them. Received them today and they look brand new!!! So I should be set...
