Having read the lengthy and informative thread "Why you should get 255/40-17 tires for your OEM rims !!!," I'm ready to replace the ECSTA SPT 235/40s with 255/35s on the 18" wheels. Has anyone encountered a problem with 255/35 being too much for the 8.0" width of the A-Spec wheel? Possible tire choice is the Conti Extreme Contact DW.

The car is not dropped and replacement wheels are not in the picture.
Thanks.

An 8.5" - 10" wide wheel is recommended for the ExtremeContact DWS. Also, the tire will stick out past the edge of the rim making the tire look like it has a flat although it is inflated properly. Finally, unless you plan on slamming your ride you will create more gap between your fender and tire since the 255/35-18 has a low profile look.

I think a 245/40-18 is the best tire for an 18" x 8" A-Spec wheel. I posted a pic of one of my former A-Spec wheels with a 245/40-18 Falken FK452.

^What he said as the 255/35 is almost 3/4" smaller in diameter than the 245/40-18, but that never stopped the guys from putting on 255/40-17's which are the same diameter at 25.02". If you like the look of a small tire and a large tire to fender gap, or a tire that diminishes that gap that's your choice.
