225/50-17 ?
#2
Don't know of anyone running 225/50. I've got 215/50-17 on CL-s rims with no rubbing whatsoever. Shoofin' tried mounting the same on his '99 and it rubbed. I'm thinking the '99 has less wheel-well clearance than '00 and newer models.

I'm running Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 225/50 x 17's. The rubbing problem is related to the offset. With my 7" wheel, 48mm offset I had to roll the fender lip but now I have no problems. Yes, the tire is taller by slightly less than a 1/4" but IMO the car looks better because there is less wheel gap that with shorter tires. If you want 225/50 tires, find a wheel with at least a 50mm offset. And get a 7 1/2" or 8" wheel; the tire will fit better. I really believe 245/45 x 17" tires on 8" wheels will fit with the correct offset.
