Is 225/40 to small of a tire on a rdx wheel

The tire is taller than most that are used on the TL, but only slightly. Most tires are in the 25.6" to 25.8" range and these are 26.08" tall. I'd rather go with a wider tread width rather than smaller, but many on here run a 225 size in various diameters. The RDX wheel is only 7.5" in width and that will also attribute to a narrow looking tire/wheel combination, but the general public would never know. The problem with a 7.5" width is that a wider tir selection is nonexistent if one were to go with the recommended tire size for that wheel width, but many on this Forum dismiss the recommendations and put on whatever they see fit, wide or small.
I would look for a wide tread 225/40 as they can be found at 8.2" in width and this is actually wider than a 235/45-17 DWS and about the same width as the 245/45-17 DWS tire and would look good on the TL and stay within the wheel width guidelines.
Personal choice.
