Smile 2008 TL front sway bar

I just removed the front SB. I am going to install a Type-S bar, $94 at the Crown Acura dealer in Clearwater, FL
I looked in the 2007 Acura Manual under 'engine Removal' and did the following:

  • from the top at the rear of the engine, removed 2 nuts and one bolt from the rear motor mount.
  • put the car up and removed the front wheels
  • removed the bolts from the LH motor mounts
  • removed the steering column clamp bolt
  • under the car, put a jack under the oil pan and removed the exhaust pipe 3 nuts on each exh. manifold, 3 nuts at the rear of the catalytic converter, and the hanger then removed the exh pipe with the converter attached. This really opens it up for removing the SB.
  • removed the middle member bolts, the rear member bolts and also the associated plate bolts. Loosened the front member bolts and unscrewed them 5 turns.
  • removed the RH fork bolt from the suspension arm.
  • lowered the jack under the oil pan until enough clearance appeared at the rear of the member
  • removed the clamp bolts and removed the SB from the vehicle.

These steps worked for me. After the new bar is in back to the dealer for a recall on the power steering hose and an alignment. This is the only dealer I have been to that actually does the work and does it correctly.

Why the front sway bar?

BTW for those with aftermarket rear sway bars do you notice squeaking coming from the poly bushings on the sway? I have a hotchkiss 27mm rear sway on my rsx and it squeaks like crazy when I go over bumps.

No squeaks with my Comptech bar with 6 years of service. I suggest lubing the bushings with a good synthetic grease and see if that helps.

I had that issue till I lubed the bushings.
