2006 TL rims, snow tires and TPMS question
I bought a used 2006 TL that included a rather lightly used set of studded snow tires in addition to the Michelin PIlots on the 17" OEM rims. In my state I can legally wear studs Nov-Mar.
At the moment my rear tires are fairly worn on the inside treads, likely due to the previous owner slacking on rotations. The front tires are ok, at least not in urgent need of replacement.
I've got some investments and other money coming available next March, which seems like fortuitous timing.
Here's my plan:
1) pay local shop $60 to mount my studs next month
2) come next March, shop for rims and tires
I don't want to go all out, this is a daily driver that maybe gets 10K a year. But if you figure seasonally it would cost $60 to mount snow tires and then $60 again to mount summer tires, that's $120 annually. So I'm using that rationale for new rims.
Regarding the TPMS, assuming I ordered a package of mounted rims+tires from the TireRack or similar, is it rather easy to pair the new sensors to my car?
Any consequences with the seasonal rotation between wheels with this?
Can two sets of wheels with TPMS both do this simultaenously?
Also, I know the Type-S has 18" wheels, so I presume I could plus size to that rim and tire spec with zero consequences to the stock suspension/handling.
Any other trade-offs as I increase in rim size or tire width? I want to keep it simple, as this is a secondary light commuting/weekend car - but am really curious about options.
Thanks

those websites are wrong. stock tires for both the type-s and base TL are 235/40/17
and usually the cars computer will pick up the new TPMS without you having to do anything.
I assume you can switch the wheels and have the cars computer pick up either or TPMS(in the case of having a winter set and summer set)

A spec wheels "aka accessory wheel" on some websites will show up as 18"
