2006 RL needs new dePAX’d tires

New rims on ‘06 RL

PAX rims and tires. My mechanic is currently storing them for me.

New rims on ‘06 RL
Hi everyone,
On Thursday of last week, I dePAX’d the RL !! It was a big/not big decision. A no brainer, really…
I miss the OEM rims but I’ll move on soon. The tires were dangerous and needed to be replaced asap.
I put on Michelin Defenders with 80,000 mi. because that’s what they had in stock that would fit.
They are ‘sorta’ quiet but are as hard as a rock. I feel every bump, so they aren’t the tire for this ride.

Looking for a smooth, quiet ride but at the same time, don’t want so soft that they wear out quickly.
looking for recommendations. I look thru my previous tire threads from 2014. I see the Conti DWS was mentioned.
Are thoughts still the same on this tire?

thanks much!

PS. I’ve got the PAX rims and am going to list them for sale. Currently the tires are attached. Hoping to find
someone who can remove them.

Conti DWS

I put the Conti DWS on my 08 RL approximately 5k miles ago. WOW wet and dry traction is amazing. No snow this year so I can’t say.

Thank you!! Do they provide a smooth ride?
What do you think of the tire noise level?

Conti DWS

Very smooth ride on the stock 17” Wheels and noise is minimal. I wasn’t crazy about buying directional tires but so far the wear has been good.
