2004 - 2008 TL rear shock replacement DIY video

Hi everyone,

One of my rear shock absorbers on my 08 TLS ended up going bad, so I decided to replace both rears and make a brief, but complete, DIY video on YouTube for others to follow. I like to keep my car with all OEM parts, so I saved a ton of money doing it on my own rather than letting the dealer do the work. I got the complete rear shock absorber assembly from OEMAcuraparts.com for about $170 for each side. Part number is 52610-SEP-A19.

You're welcome. It has never seen inclement weather and only has 42k miles on it, hence the condition.

Thanks

Thank you for the well done video for the rear shocks. You have made it obvious how to save a bunch of money with a minimal of hassle.

FYI, I was told in another post that base 04-06 can take base 07-08 assemblies. The base model rear assembly for my 2005 was 340 for each. The 2007 base assembly is 172 for each. The 07-08 base supposedly have the "softest ride".

I've heard that also. Guess I will find out . Ginna wait until fall to do this though, it's way too hot out now.

Yeah, it's also in the 90s here. No working on car.

If and when you do this swap, please report back with driving/installation impressions, if you can. I recently swapped my OEM dampers (which were bad) for Konis. The ride is much better, but still a little harsh. I may swap assemblies in the near future and would like to hear from anyone who tried the 07-08 base assemblies in a 04-06 base.

Will do. I was on the fence about Konis, but I will go with OEM for ease of installation and a smoother ride.
