19" rim on 2008 TL

Looking to transition into a summer tire to give my all weather tires a break.

I was browsing on crCraigsli and found ones I wanted for my TL .

They measure as 245/45R19 . 19X8.5 front and 19X9 rear. Good price and tires are in great condition .

The owner had them previously on a Honda Element .

I'm not looking to lower the vehicle.

My main concern is twofold.
1. Will it fit? Comfortably with no rubbing when turning or a full vehicle.
2. Will it look goofy not being lowered .

Please and thanks in advance .

Not enough information; what is the offset and what size tires are on the wheels?

Waiting on the reply for the offset question. But the tires are 245/45/19

Even if the offset is correct, there is a very good chance those tires will rub. Why? Those tires are 2.3" in diameter too large (which will also cause significant speedometer and odometer error); coupled with a wider than stock tread width and I strongly suspect you'll have an issue with rubbing. FWIW, for 19" wheels, your car would need 235/35 R19 (exact diameter of OEM tires) or 245/35 R19 (diameter is 0.3" larger which will only cause a minor variance in the odometer and speedometer) tires.

Good call, I completely space on the bolt pattern spec.

Bolt pattern on a Honda Element is 5x114 so that's fine. Offset prob around 38 to 45mm.

This is 225/40/R18, 36mm offset, 9.75 in the back and 8.75 in the front on base suspension. You be the judge if you think it fits or doesn't.

Hmmm, not fond of the skinny tire/stretched tire look.

If you're planning to pick them up, will the seller let you test fit them?
My guess is you'd have to run 35-series 19s to fit...Rubber band tires.

I think you're responding to the wrong person; personally I abhor running oversized wheels as they destroy the driving dynamics of the car. The fact is, the 3G TL was designed to run either 17" or 18" wheels, using larger wheels will result ride, handling, acceleration, and braking will be negatively impacted; using smaller (smaller won't fit on cars with the Brembo brakes) will result in a slight improvement in ride, acceleration, and braking, but a reduction in handling.

in other words; stop trying to find "deals" on wheels and instead research to find the perfect specs for you, personally. as each one of us will have different taste in wheel design and specs.

unless the "deal" you are looking at is in the correct specs, i'd pass.

Sorry for that, horseshoez--I get mixed up with all these threads sometimes and it was meant for OP. ITA with all that.

You would need 245/35R19 tires to fit our tire specs, or even 235/35R19 to be as close to the original as possible. So if you want the wheels, try to get them without the tires. Or sell the tires after buying them.

One way or another, you'll need different tires.

yup 40 series on a 19" will not work with the TL, need 35 series but keep in mind 35 series will be REALLY harsh on the ride quality... for comparison my stock 5 spoke is 235/45/17 and my Varrostoen's tire size is 235/40/18 and the 40 series on the 18s ride so much harsher than the 45s on my stocks.. i cant imagine what 35s would feel like.. you'd probably feel every pebble/stone on the road

It's not that bad. On my TL-S, it feels like the suspension reacts better with 18 or 19" wheels than with the 17. Sure you feel the road more each time you go up a size, but there's not such a dramatic difference as you're implying.

I had 19s on my car a couple years ago and it was tolerable, and the size to me is just perfect in terms of look on the car. I'll be buying new wheels soon and I'm still considering 19s or 18s.
