ACURA TL AUTO/6SPD SEDAN 2004-2004
COMMENTS: IDEAL FITMENTS:
17X8 35-40ET W/ 235/45-17
18X8 35-40ET W/ 245/40-18
19X8.5 40-45ET W/ 245/35-19
**AIR SENSORS ARE OPTIONAL ON THIS VEHICLE**
MAX TIRE WIDTH: 265 MM
MAX TIRE HEIGHT: 26.30 MM !!!
MAX WHEEL WIDTH: 9.0 INCHES
WIDTH OFFSET WIDTH OF TIRE
1.MAX TIRE HEIGHT: 26.30 MM
2.Some TL owners put 20 with 245/35/20 which has TIRE HEIGHT: 26.80 MM
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/45-17 4.2in 12.7in 25.3in 79.6in 796 0.0%
245/35-20 3.4in 13.4in 26.8in 84.0in 754 5.6%
So 20' will exceed max height
It must rub on 20 or fittment guide is wrong and TL can accomodate more that 26.3 mm

Do you know how thin 0.5mm is? I wouldn't worry much about it.

Excellent picture 1fastS4!
Usa, I think he was just showing us the difference but is not riding like this. Thanks for taking the time to put this together 1fastS4.
That 20" sure does fill in better.

I would also think that it depends on the rims you get... those 20's have the face on the outside giving it a larger perception to the eye. Maybe im just trying to convince myself 20's are perfect for the TL.

Can anyone comment on the ride harshness between 18"s and 19"s? I'm also in the camp thinking about new rims (currently riding on stock 17"s and OEM El-42s) but not sure on the size I want. It doesn't help that Boston roads suck...
I'm planning on going with Toyo Proxes 4 and the A-SPEC suspension (so I'll have a little bit of a drop) too.
Thanks.

I cant speak with experience but the ride shouldnt be to harsh from 18 to 19"s. Plus road conditions obviously will also play a roll.
Me personally i would get 19 inch rims but i have seen some 20's that look damn fine and perfect on a TL.
Example of an Awesome TL on 20's (GOT TL's TL)

i have 20's in foose speedsters/OEM suspension/CSB sway bar
if you plan on having people in you back seat alot, i think you will rub quite a bit going over dips, etc. however the 20's do fill the wheel gap nicely w/out having to lower your car. i have had mine on for 4k miles, and i have no complaints. i did have a rubbing issue when going over large bumps/dips with a full load in the backseat, but it only happened because I was going to fast. when I slowed down with those people in the backseat, no problems w/rubbing. and I have only had 2 people(adults) in the backseat one time in those 4k miles. just food for thought.
i would have regretted not getting 20's

Basically, do you want a lip or a flat faced wheel? If you're going with a lip, I would go with a 20" wheel. Unless your wheels are a reverse lip setup you will probably lose a 1/2 inch or so with the lip. And your perception of the wheel will make it look even smaller. But, if you go with a flat faced wheel (like on the rear of 1fasts4's car) go with a 19".
As far as ride quality and durability are concerned, a 19 and a 20 should be about even. You will find, though, that there are far less tires and wheels made in 19". So you might not find your style of wheel in your correct size.
Finding nice wheel is a process... Take your time. Trust me, you will probably change your mind a dozen times before you buy.

These are my 19's and I am soon upgrading to 20's. Most 20's would not look right on the TL's and make them look bulky.. so if you go with 20's you're gonna have to be careful.
