18x8 wheel with 45 offset ok?

I am looking to by some wheels with the above sizes tomorrow and I read in other posts that recommended offset for 18's are 35-40. Should I not buy these wheels based on this? Will I have issues having a 45 offset?
Oh, I have a 04 TL automatic.

Thanks for your help.

i would run 35/40 to be on the safer side, or you should try and test fitting it before you buy it.

What do I have to look for when I test fit? Sorry for a dumb question, but I have read the threads about offset but still don't really know what it is.

look for things like brake clearance and making sure that the back of the rim doesn't touch anything like your struts ect.

you would want to make sure the wheel clears the caliper and is not hitting on the knuckle

17x8 +45 is stock specs, 18x8 +45 will fit exactly like stock, just an inch bigger in diameter.

It's an automatic, won't need to worry about that unless he's got a big brake kit.

For an x8 wheel, something between +32 and +45. The lower the number, the more it will stick out.
