'08 TL TPMS question

Hi guys,

Just bought a TL 3 months ago so I am very new to these things. Today suddenly the TPMS light came on and shows '--' on all four wheels. When I shut off engine and turn it back on it quickly shows the psi on the tires and I notice the rear left tire showed '58' psi. Would it be a bad sensor?

This TL is also a CPO, would the dealership cover this or would I have to pay out of my pocket?

Yes sir.. It is indeed like you said, the rear left tire that is showing the "58 psi" is the one that is a 'bad' sensor. You'll have to take it out, spank it, and put it back in.

Just kidding, but it's the same problem I have. When I rotate my tires, my TPMS works fine for 1 or 2 days than I get the TPMS ERROR and it turns out my front left sensor appears to be dead. I've been driving with no TPMS for a little over a year now...

The orange warning notification that pops up at every car start-up is very annoying but I learned to live with it...

I would assume the dealership may cover it since it's CPO and should have a warranty. The reason why I have bothered getting mine fixed is because my car is salvage title and has no warranty. I know 1 sensor from the dealership costs ~$30-50 and the labor cost to get it fixed will probably be $100.

No way in hell I'm going to spend $150 just to get the orange TPMS ERROR notification to go away. I'll live with it for now and just check my tire pressures manually..

When I put a dent in my rim, Walmart charged me $25 (mount & balance) to remove the old tire and to reinstall it on a brand new rim with a new TPMS (I supplied the new rim and TPMS).

As a CPO, I believe it should be covered.

Just to tag along, how annoying is it to run a TPMS TL with wheels without TPMS. I'm debating is it worth it to equip a set of wheels that are spares.

^it's annoying. you'll get a beep and orange error message everytime you turn on your car.

ear plugs and electrical tape will fix that tho.

Thanks, the wife may not like that all that much, so I best just pay and deal with the 1 time loss of cash than the perpetual nag how I gave her a broken car. I told her to use ear plugs for the snoring and that has not gone over all that well.
