08 TL Suspension

I have an 08 TL with 120,000 miles. It's riding a little rough and I'd like to start replacing or upgrading the suspension to get a better ride. I saw a suspension kit on eBay. What about shocks and springs? Is the kit all I need to replace? I just replaced the tires last month so those are good. Thanks

Are you OK with a bit more firmer ride? Or trying to stay similar to OEM setup? Coilovers are the way to go, IMHO. I picked up a set of Tein Street Basis Z for $423.80 shipped! Can't beat that price! Check out Race Consulting Agency online if you are interested.

Interesting, you own the softest 3G TL by a pretty wide margin and you feel it rides too rough? That being the case, an aftermarket suspension kit is unlikely to make it any better. Then there is the issue of the kit you provided a link for, that is for an old Acura CL, it will not fit your TL.

Good catch. I wasn't paying attention.

I bought the car new off the lot. The ride was smooth. I'd like to get back to something similar, if possible. I'll take a look at what you posted. Thanks.

Buy OEM and it'll be just like day 1.

The first thing you need to do is figure out what is wrong with your suspension. At only 120,000 miles it should perform to spec, errr, unless one of your dampers is leaking or of some of your bushings are trashed.

Are your tires worn out? Is the car aligned?

Have you checked bushings?

Is anything loose?

At 120K, the shocks should be fine.

Anything you replace with aftermarket is going to be worse than OEM Acura replacements, and potentially unsafe.

I would not be tempted to buy a cheap "kit" on eBay, consisting of mystery parts.

Find out what's wrong. Fix just that with OEM parts.

Or roll the dice on high quality aftermarket replacement (if you can find such a thing).

Whatever is worn. Shocks/bushings/dampers, whatever appears worn or out of spec.

Shocks/struts may help. How can I tell if the bushings/dampers need to be replaced?
