i put on new wheels, i did not transfer the valve stems b/c they came mounted on the way home from my shop th tps light came on,
1) is there anyway to disable this light?
2) do i have to use the valve stem form stock wheels?
3) how do i know if the tps will work with the new wheels and what if they dont?

You need sensors. If you want to take the ones off the old wheels that is up to you. I'm buying new wheels this winter (for summer use) and I plan to buy sensors for those new wheels so I can keep my OEM wheels for winter use.

So either you transfer the sensors off your old wheels or buy news ones. I don't know what your plan is with your old wheels, but I would buy new ones.

Why didn't you do that from the start? Did you not know your car had TPMS?

As far as disabling, why don't you call your service dept and ask them. I would imagine that it's possible.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I was curious if you knew. Sounds like you rushed into this almost knowing you'd have a problem afterwards.

You may have to buy the sensors and get somebody to remove you tires, install the sensors, and remount and balance your tires again. From what I've seen you're one of very few to get aftermarket wheels on a 2006. I asked the same questions on this forum when I got mine because I plan to get new wheels too. I got very few answers... you may have to blaze the path here for others. Good luck and make sure you let us know what you find out.

well i found out the error sensor comes on after 10-15 minutes of driving, and a little orange tpms on the left side pops up and its so small you can hardly tell, im not going to replace the sensors until it begins to bug me b/c right now it does not bug me 200+, i talked to a dealer and they said there was no way to disable it, i wonder if there is a fuse

I have been through this with my dealer. I mounted after market wheels on my '06.

1. According to my dealer, you cannot disable the TPMS error - it is part of the total computer monitoring system. They got this answer from Acura Support people.

2. You can transfer the stock sensors (part of the valve stems) to your after market wheels and they will work. I recommend a re-balance after installing the sensors

3. If you have to buy 4 sensors from Acura, they are about $50 each. Curious - what happened to the original sensors for your car? That is what I used.

Good luck,

JB

If aftermarket wheels are installed on the 06 TL, can the TPMS sensors be removed from the stock wheels and kept in the glovebox to keep the warning light out? Or would the same sensors at zero pressure still give you the warning light?

Will the sensors fit on to the 04/05 a-spec wheels from the 06 OEM 17"?? I know the 06 version of the a-spec wheel comes with their own sensors but cost a lot more than the 04/05 a-spec wheel. If they do then i plan to buy extra sensors for the a-spec wheel rather than switch then over cuz i plan to sell the OEMs 17" with the sensors because i dont think anyone will want a 06 OEM wheels without the sensors

If that were possible they would read zero pressure (which would trip the warning light).

Thanks for posting that up - I'll need to pick up 4 of those for my aftermarket rims. Are they acutally a complete valve stem that they'd use on the rims as opposed to the regular cheapo type ones? Thanks for all the input on this thread as it answers the exact question I was wondering about myself. FWIW, I got the same line from GM on my situation with my current car about not being able to disable it. My buddy [GM mechanic] and I simply took the gauge pod out off and removed the bulb from the freakin' light -problem solved!
