I need to buy new tires, is it possible to fit a 245/45/18 or will that not fit? I have seen people on this forum with 245/40/18, but I was looking to have more sidewall real estate.
Anyone have 245/45/18 on their car presently?

There is no reason that you can't put a 245/45-18 on the wheels other than the wheel/tire combination will be rediculously big, as they are about 1" larger in diameter when compared to the 245/40-18, or about 1 1/2" taller than the stock size. If 245/40 is not to your liking, then I'd suggest staying with a UHP 245/45-17 tire.

ajs800: Your signature says you have the Satin Silver A-Spec wheels (18x8?) with 245/40/18 tires. Which tire did you choose for your setup? Does the 245 fit well or would you purchase 235 next time?

A long time ago, I threw my G35 wheels on my wife's TL just for sh!ts and giggles... These just happen to have 245/45-18s on them... The fronts were also rubbing like crazy, but that might have been because these wheels are also +30mm offsets...

Currently looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus or the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position.

I went with the Conti DWS A/S tires in a 245/40/18. They are a great all around tire but are on the soft side like others have mentioned. Considering you were thinking of going with a 245/45, I think the softness would be a good thing. It's not a big deal to me being that it's a daily driver and not a real sports car. If I wanted a true performance tire, I'd get a summer UHP and then have a winter set. This is what I did with my G35, but the TL is driven a lot and I preferred to get a comfy tire that could be used year round. I only went with the 245 to provide better rim protection. I had Pilots on my previous TL and IMO the DWS seem to provide a little nicer ride for all seasons. I imagine the sidewalls would stiffen some if you went with the DWS in a 235/40 vs the 245.

It's been stated many times, replacement for OE specs":
245/45-17 25.68" dia.
245/40-18 25.71"
245/35-19 25.75"
245/30-20 25.78"
Section width is 9.64" for all so no fitment problems providing.
Naturally, my opinion, bit I'd venture to say don't know of any that would disagree. There'll always be one, so let's say I don't know of many that would disagree.
